About the company:
Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction primarily software-defined and work towards a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labour.
We’re a growing team (about 70 team members) of mostly engineers and technicians, coming from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, 1X and Meta. It’s still the early days of building the company, and this is a unique opportunity to be an early employee in a high-growth, high-ambition startup environment. From Day 1, you’ll be able to work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.

About you and this role
We’re looking for a Buyer who’s organised, proactive, and ready to help build our supply chain from the ground up. You’ll play a key role in making sure we have the right parts at the right time to keep our robot production running smoothly. This includes working with suppliers, tracking lead times, placing orders, managing stock levels, and helping set up the tools and processes we need — starting with spreadsheets and later helping us move to an ERP system. You’ll also work closely with engineers to get drawings and specifications, check them for completeness, and make sure suppliers have what they need to deliver parts that meet our requirements.
You will own and iterate on our existing procurement systems and build new ones to reduce lead times in our supply chain. Monumental is a unique company in that we’re solving the problem of on-site construction with a vertically integrated offering. We’re a hard tech company doing real R&D, financed through venture funding. We manufacture our hardware in-house, run a fully equipped workshop, manage a complex supply chain, and deploy masonry robots to construction sites across the Netherlands and the UK.
You’ll be part of a small and growing operations team, solving real-world problems every day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the mix of structured systems thinking and the unpredictability of a fast-moving software-enabled robotic solution.
Note: We are unable to support relocation for this role. Applicants must be based in the Netherlands and able to commute onsite to Amsterdam to be considered. We are open to considering visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Work with other teams to help predict what parts we’ll need to build our robots, so we can order the right items on time.
Help set up and track key numbers (KPIs) to monitor the status of our Bill of Materials (BoM).
Find, qualify, and manage suppliers — bringing in new ones and phasing out underperforming ones.
Set delivery expectations and follow up with suppliers on delays, quality issues, or inventory problems.
Handle the sourcing and ordering of tools, materials, and supplies needed for production.
Build and improve simple processes (initially using spreadsheets) to manage stock levels and avoid shortages or overstocking.
Take an active role in setting up our future ERP system and help migrate procurement and inventory processes into it.
Create clear processes to help supply chain, warehouse, and production teams work better together.
What We’re Looking For
2–4 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain coordination role (ideally in a manufacturing or hardware environment)
Comfortable working with spreadsheets (e.g. Excel or Google Sheets) for tracking orders, inventory, and suppliers
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Basic understanding of supply chain principles, lead times, and inventory control
Experience communicating with suppliers and managing purchase orders
Proactive, hands-on attitude — able to take ownership and get things moving in a startup-like environment
Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
Nice-To-Haves
Experience helping implement or work with an ERP system (e.g. NetSuite, Odoo, SAP, etc.)
Familiarity with hardware bills of materials (BoMs)
Exposure to supplier onboarding and qualification processes
Interest in robotics, hardware, or high-tech manufacturing
Experience working across teams like production, engineering, and warehouse
Degree in supply chain management, logistics, engineering, business, or a related field
Relevant experience can substitute for formal education — we value hands-on skills and a proactive mindset over titles
