ABOUT BIOACTIVES
Bioactives are small molecule compounds produced by plants, fungi, and microbes that are essential for their survival. Bioactives also benefit the health of humans – they are the enlivening caffeine in tea, the powerful antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes or curcumin in turmeric, and they are the  active ingredients in medicines like Taxol, aspirin and Metformin Science has long known that bioactives are critical to human health, yet the vast majority remain unknown and uncharted – often referred to as the “dark matter” of nutrition. Brightseed’s A.I., Forager®, discovers bioactives in nature and maps them to human health outcomes at a rate and accuracy that was previously impossible.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Bioactive Marketing Lead will launch and lead Brightseed’s bioactive ingredient marketing initiatives with the goal of driving industry demand, sales and brand value for Brightseed’s novel health solutions. 

Key responsibilities include developing and executing a B2B and B2C marketing plan that drives U.S. and target international demand for Brightseed’s bioactive ingredients among customers and consumers alike.

The Bioactive Marketing Lead will create and execute Brightseed’s ingredient marketing playbook – from developing compelling brand messaging, sales assets, demo products, and customer personas, to activating demand-generation marketing that fills and converts Brightseed’s funnel of ingredient buyers, which include companies across the consumer health continuum (Food & Beverage CPG, Ingredient B2B, Consumer Health brands).  

Reporting to the VP Bioactive Commercialization, the Bioactive Marketing Lead will work hand-in-hand with the Product team. This role is critical to Brightseed and will help usher in the company’s next phase of growth by activating its new bioactive ingredient brand and business.

IMPACT - BRAND AND STRATEGY MARKET EXECUTION

  • Build an omni-channel B2B and B2C marketing plan to increase Brightseed’s bioactive portfolio and fuel ongoing target customer demand, sales and co-marketing/labeling commitments. 
  • Establish a marketing plan for clinician and health community affinity; develop content and communications aimed at enlisting support in clinical trials, customer demos and references, and medical meetings.   
  • Manage Brightseed’s ingredient brand positioning, messaging, visual identity, and co-labeling/packaging guidelines; partner with Brightseed’s design team and agency partners to advance ingredient branding and messaging. 
  • Partner closely with Leadership, Product and Scientific/Medical Affairs teams on strategies, plans and messaging reviews.  
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of market dynamics and trends, along with competitor strategies and marketing movements. 
  • Act as a thought leader and market expert. 
  • Bring innovative ideas and best practices to the table.
  • Manage the bioactive product marketing budget and effectively allocate resources to meet OKRs.
  • IMPACT - INDUSTRY AWARENESS AND DEMAND GENERATION

  • Execute outbound ingredient marketing activities for Brightseed’s portfolio of bioactive ingredients, including traditional media, digital media, email, etc.  
  • Lead Brightseed’s trade show program; identify key events and lead end-end activation of the Brightseed brand pre-show, onsite, and post-show.
  • Develop and launch a series of ingredient demo products aimed at sparking B2B and B2C demand for bioactives. 
  • Work in partnership with Brightseed’s Communications team to develop a launch plan for Brightseed bioactives, inclusive of influencers, chefs and other consumer health luminaries, and drive ongoing PR presence for Brightseed bioactives. 
  • Determine key customers and sell-in co-marketing campaigns to drive brand value for Brightseed and its partners, and generate PR. 
  • Determine key success metrics and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives in generating qualified leads, conversion, and overall value to sales; manage metrics using Hubspot CRM.  
  • IMPACT - SALES TEAM ENABLEMENT

  • Develop target buyer personas and a comprehensive portfolio of sales-marketing collateral (e.g., presentations, one-pagers, case studies, etc.) in collaboration with Marketing and Product teams. 
  • Represent Brightseed’s brand and marketing objectives at sales meetings; present joint product concepts and co-branding ideas; drive adoption of co-marketing campaigns and momentum with customers.  
  • Support bioactive ingredient sales team on an ongoing basis to develop customer collateral, presentation materials, and talking points for key sales moments and meetings.
  • THE EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED

  • Senior Manager - Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Director - Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Above years of experience of in-house B2B health ingredient marketing; previous marketing experience required with consumer health, B2B food & beverage, and/or ingredient companies. B2C marketing experience is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of consumer trends in multiple industries, focused on nutrition, health and science. 
  • Proven track record of sales-generating marketing results; deep understanding of sales lifecycle and marketing to sales funnel.
  • Self-starter and strategic, creative thinker with a history of pushing for deadline-driven results.
  • Willingness to staff trade shows and travel based on marketing plan.  Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, able to influence across the organization.
