 What you will do:

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Projects will be a key member of Electra’s executive team for the next phase of growth and development and is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the Capital Projects program and ensuring project excellence across the Company Portfolio, ensuring the successful delivery outcomes for our Investors & shareholders. In this role you will: 

  • Lead the development of the Company’s Project Management Methodology, focusing on standardizing and improving global project management deliverables, processes, tools, and training. 
  • Build and develop a small Owners team of Project Management Office (PMO) Experts to deliver improved processes and tools and enhance execution capabilities.  
  • Manage project execution, monitor milestone completion, and proactively identify and communicate critical project risks to senior management.  
  • Manage resources to conform to negotiated and assigned project budgets. 
  • Perform /Assist CCO, and CTO with financial analysis and due diligence on potential development opportunities, direct project management and oversight. 
  • Project management of commercial plant design, procurement, construction.  
  • Directly oversee and coordinate all the detailed engineering design of pilot/commercial plant using EPC partners and engineering consulting firms.  
  • Work closely with the cross-functional internal working group that owns a) overall plant flow sheet, including detailed heat and material balances around all significant operation steps, b) test work needed to support the design of the commercial plant, c) performs analysis of various alternative pathways and cost trade-off studies, supported by first-engineering principles, and c) analysis of the breakdown of the overall plant cost structure,, and d) Business and GTM tech team etc.  
  • Lead project risk reviews meetings to drive continuous improvement. 
  • Support the development of Regional and Global opportunities for Electra project development.   
  • Champion project PCR (Post completion reviews) close-out meetings to identify opportunities for best practice and lessons learned sharing. 
  • Create, nurture, and provide leadership of Project Managers   
  • Consistently and pro-actively Monitor key performance indicators and solicit direct feedback from key stakeholders to ensure progress towards the company’s strategic plans. 
  • Serve as a critical member of Electra’s Executive Leadership Team to influence strategic priorities and initiatives. 
  • Utilize six sigma quality methodology and implement repeatable process methodologies to deliver solutions and achieve customer objectives. 

 

What we need you to bring to the team:  

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related.   
  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management in a project business. 
  • 20+ years of operations, technical, engineering leadership, and project management experience in the metal and mining industry or related. 
  • Significant plant owner’s perspective for large capital projects to design an operable Electra’s novel Hydrometallurgical-Electrowinning plant.
  • Significant hands-on operating experience in zinc, copper, nickel or equivalent hydrometallurgical plants, and interfacing and managing EPCMs for detailed plant design and engineering. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of large EPCM projects in the resource sector, particularly with hydrometallurgy and electrochemical processing.  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group, identify tasks, and ensure progress of objectives. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, manage priorities, and maintain project plans in an organized manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with and bring together cross-functional groups to manage project execution and build longstanding relationships successfully.  
  • Demonstrated experience producing and presenting analysis, valuation, and recommendation materials to senior-level management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team and individual settings and cross-functionally, manage and motivate teams, and supervise outside professionals.  
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage risk assessments and provide data based pro-active early-warning system information to senior management – together with proposed mitigation plans. 
  • Strong desire to support the broader team whenever and wherever needed to ensure responsibilities are shared in a lean organization.  
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, organize, prioritize, and act on own ideas without significant direction.  

 

What we want you to bring to the team:  

 

  • Professional Certifications (eg. Lean Six Sigma etc)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a globally focused Project Management Office.
  • Prior start-up experience preferred. 

 

Compensation:  

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $240,000-$290,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
