About the role
As VP, Project Execution and Customer Delivery, you are responsible for selecting sites for, permitting, building, and operating our energy storage facilities for primarily our North American clients.  You will lead a growing team including several engineers with complex construction management, estimating, scheduling, quality, and safety experience.  You will collaborate with the Energy Vault commercial, product, engineering, procurement, commissioning, and finance teams as well as our Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) partners and the large contract staff hired at each client site.  You and your team will plan and measure project timeline, % completion, and costs; you will also define and refine other KPIs.

What you will do

  • Build upon your existing knowledge in energy, energy storage, construction, engineering, and project management and learn about our company, competitors, clients, and suite of solutions, including gravity storage, battery storage, and others such as green hydrogen.
  • Lead your team through successful construction projects, managing staged completion milestones to meet Revenue recognition schedules, revising as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the other operations team leaders as well as leaders in other business functions.
  • Execute on strategic decisions, involving other stakeholders when appropriate.
  • Oversee your teams’ work with Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) partners to develop schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, and other support requirements for assigned projects.
  • Track progress against the established plan and make decisions to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and construction schedule.
  • Communicate program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborate with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to implement changes to product, process, or program plan to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules.
  • Provide recovery action plans when critical milestones are not met to get the project back on track.
  • Coordinate and direct matrixed teams and resources and proactively create room to collaborate.
  • Capture best practices across clients and locations to reduce cost and schedule to be implemented in the next project.

  • What a qualified candidate should possess

  • Construction experience required; renewable energy experience strongly preferred; bonus for energy storage experience.
  • 15+ years of total experience.
  • 8+ years of practical experience in planning and execution of large construction projects consisting of capital, mechanical, and/or electrical projects. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a preference for an Engineering-related degree (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Process or Materials Science).
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) is preferred, as well as contracting licenses.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication at all levels of the company and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel frequently domestically (25%) and internationally on occasion.
  • Comfort in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
  • Experience in public companies is a plus.
