Who You Are
As the VP of Product Management, you report to the CEO, you explain complex technical concepts and tradeoffs in simple ways, in a multitude of ways, and can get a diverse group of stakeholders to buy in and align even when they have competing interests.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead and grow a small to medium sized team to set the product roadmaps and manage its execution, taking into account input from the CEO and cross-functional leaders; as well as the company’s technology, capacity, cost, risk, and customer timelines
- Drive the team to develop market environmental analysis for our customers’ industries and translate into Sila’s view on the expected evolution of industry needs, buying behaviors, and competitive dynamics to ensure Sila’s development roadmaps fit into our customers’ roadmaps
- Develop the modeling simulation function to quantitatively show the value of using Sila’s products in our customers’ own products
- Develop an organizational competence to work with customers and internal company groups to manage price models for all market segments
- Travel to customer sites and internal manufacturing sites. Build, manage, and maintain business relationships with our customers’ product teams and key personnel
- Hire, coach, and support talent through consistent feedback, creation of clear goals, navigation of challenges, and celebration of wins
Knowledge & Skills
- Track record of leading teams that executed key product management deliverables (including product roadmaps, pricing frameworks, etc) and successfully brought multiple B2B products from conception through launch
- Experience in implementing processes for product management and customer discovery that result in structured learnings that the company used to successfully drive product development
- Knowledge of industries that enables leading a team selling into Consumer and Automotive markets via a globally distributed set of battery cell manufacturers
- Demonstrated ability as a people manager
- 10+ years as a product management leader, including external work with customers
- Deep technical competence that enables understanding of Sila’s materials & applications
- Preferred work experience in industries that sell high technology products that need to fit into customers’ product roadmaps (i.e.
- B2B technologies, not B2C).
- Preferred experience selling to automotive and consumer electronics OEMs
