ICON is seeking a flexible, multi-faceted, motivated UX Writer to join our fast-growing BuildOS team of developers, designers, and technologists working together to transform the construction industry. As a UX Writer, you’ll help to define the voice of our products, improve usability through language, and simplify complex materials for a variety of user groups. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus and will report to the Senior Manager of UX.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Help set the vision for content and drive cohesive product voice across multiple platforms and touch points.
  • Be a member of cross-functional teams and balance varying degrees of responsibilities and roles across projects.
  • Participate in research initiatives to test and adapt content strategy in a data-driven way.
  • Create content standards and shareable guidelines to inform and scale UX writing initiatives. 
  • Manage a consistent voice across multiple products and product teams.
  • Create information architecture frameworks, content taxonomies, content governance documentation, and language guidelines, to communicate content strategy.
  • Lead the creation and review of UX microcopy including, CTAs, headings, labels, errors, alerts, and more.
  • Perform content audits of system language and training material.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3+ years of experience in UX copywriting/microcopy and  technical writing for interactive experiences and complex systems.
  • Concise writer, with a portfolio of work that demonstrates your gift for simplifying and improving user experiences.
  • A bachelor's degree in English, Communications, related field, or relevant experience.
  • Outstanding written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail particularly in terms of style guidelines and grammar.
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams on simultaneous projects.
  • Passion for the Oxford comma and advocating for the best user experience possible.
  • Highly organized, independent, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in Jira or similar project management tools.
