About the company:
Base is building the foundation of American power. The grid is the largest, most complex machine in the world. Yet it’s aging, struggling to keep up with today’s demand, and is unprepared for our electrified future.
Base is modernizing the grid as the first engineering-led, technology-driven power company. We’re deploying a nationwide network of distributed batteries that strengthens critical infrastructure and saves Americans money.
Our team of engineers, operators, creatives, technicians, and electricians design and deploy systems at speed. If you want to tackle the problem that will define this century and shape the future of American energy, now is the time. Join us.
Base’s distributed storage technology has the potential to transform the U.S. electric grid. As part of the Utility Partnerships team, you’ll play a pivotal role in scaling Base’s business and shaping the future of grid infrastructure nationwide.
Base operates under two complementary business models:
In deregulated markets like Texas, Base serves as both the distributed storage provider and the retail electricity provider (REP).
In regulated markets, Base partners directly with utilities to deploy its batteries and provide dispatchable capacity-as-a-service.
While this regulated utility business is still early-stage, it’s expanding rapidly and represents a critical growth driver for Base, especially given that roughly 75% of the U.S. is served by regulated utilities. In this role, you’ll support the business development, product strategy, and operational execution of new utility partnerships, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across deployments, software, and operations.
What You’ll Do
Identify, pursue, and secure new utility partnership opportunities by developing deep expertise in distributed storage technologies and serving as a best-in-class partner to utilities.
Lead all stages of the utility business development lifecycle from direct engagement and negotiations to indirect participation in RFPs, IRPs, and other procurement processes.
Ensure the operational success of new partnerships by collaborating cross-functionally with deployments, software, and operations teams.
Drive long-term account growth by helping shape product offerings that align with utilities’ evolving needs.
Maintain a “no job too small” mindset, contributing wherever needed to advance the success of the Utility Partnerships team.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience in partnerships, consulting, business development, or an operating role.
Experience in energy, power, renewables, or infrastructure preferred.
Bonus: familiarity with utility resource planning, procurement, or capital project processes.
Strong Excel modeling and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfort operating in a high-growth, engineering-driven environment.
We’re building a winning culture and we’re looking for people who are up for the challenge. Here’s what we expect from day one:
In-Person Only: We work full-time in the office. No hybrid. No remote.
Challenge the Status Quo: Question assumptions. Fix broken systems. Principles > rules.
Move Fast: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble. Challenge ideas–including your own.
Own the Outcome: Take full responsibility. Deliver results. No excuses.
Act Like an Owner: Be resourceful, mindful of impact, and committed to the business.
Be Decisive: Drive clarity. Make bold calls with imperfect info.
Bring the Intensity: This is not a 9-to-5. We're building something hard which requires real commitment.
