About the company:

We are building a full stack energy company to lower cost of energy & accelerate energy abundance. We are based in London, New York.

We've raised $100m from top tier investors like Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, MultiCoin.

Energy is broken – We are here to fix it.

Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy startup on a mission to deliver a terawatt of renewable energy – fast. We're combining first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system.

We're creating a fully integrated energy company: from developing renewable generation and grid infrastructure to powering the next generation of AI and compute-intensive industries.

As AI drives unprecedented demand for power and data center capacity, the bottleneck is no longer chips – it is energy, grid infrastructure, and the ability to deliver new capacity at speed.

We are looking for a Data Center Development Lead to help solve that problem. You will be responsible for taking data center projects from concept through to Ready-to-Build and energisation. You will own the technical and development workstreams required to transform a site from an opportunity into a deliverable project. You will work across site selection, power strategy, grid connections, planning, engineering, design development, permitting, utility engagement, and delivery readiness.

This is a highly technical role for someone who understands both infrastructure development and engineering. You will help build the infrastructure that enables the next generation of AI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data center developments from early-stage opportunity through Ready-to-Build and energisation
  • Assess sites from technical, planning, power, and infrastructure perspectives
  • Develop grid connection and power strategies with National Grid, DNOs, and utility providers
  • Support planning, permitting, and stakeholder engagement processes
  • Identify and mitigate technical and development risks
  • Ensure projects are deliverable, scalable, and aligned with construction requirements

Requirements

  • Experience developing data centers or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and utility systems, with the ability to evaluate engineering decisions and challenge technical assumptions
  • Strong understanding of UK planning and grid connection processes
  • Experience taking projects from early-stage development through design, permitting, and delivery readiness
  • Highly analytical, self-directed, and comfortable with significant ownership

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Biannual bonus scheme
  • Fully expensed tech to match your needs
  • Breakfast and dinner allowance for office based employees
