This individual will perform engineering design activities in support of Tokamak Vessel Component design development, construction, commissioning, and operation.  Under limited supervision, you will conduct thermal and structural analysis, develop 3D and 2D representations of designs and develop and refine P&IDs.  Design deliverables will be documented and packaged by this individual for peer review.  This individual will continue to support the designs through construction, commissioning, and operations. Holistically, this individual will be expected to do analysis, designing, and operation support.

This team member will:

  • Vacuum Heating and Cooling System (VHC) design support including calculations, modeling, drawings, simulations, process engineering, and documentation
  • Glow Discharge System (GDS) design support including calculations, modeling, drawings, simulations, process engineering, and documentation
  • Self-management of tasks and deliverables
  • Oration/presentation of design deliverables for peer review
  • The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • Required Education: BSME, BSEE or equivalent
  • Required experience: 5+ years in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Process Engineering
  • Industrial Controls
  • Simulation & Analysis Software
  • An ability to clearly express and critique ideas
  • An emphasis on elegance and simplicity over complexity
  • A drive towards commercially viable solutions
  • Additional preferred experience and/or qualifications:

  • A ability to lift of 50 lbs occassionally
  • Ability to sit and/or type for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include noise and strong magnets
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and/or work required nights/weekends/on-call
