About the company:

Vertical is a British aerospace tech company that's pioneering electric aviation through designing and building the UK's first all-electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL). A quieter, faster, more sustainable way to travel between urban destinations.

Our Mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The Valo, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.

We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals. Valo is targeting airliner-level safety certification in 2028 ahead of entering service with our airline and operator customers.

What to Expect
You’ll play a pivotal role in translating high-level programme goals into clear, achievable deliverables for the Systems Safety & Systems Engineering team. Working across multiple disciplines, you’ll ensure that engineering outputs stay aligned with aircraft milestones, budget expectations, and regulatory requirements. You’ll act as the central hub between engineering, programme, and supporting functions, helping to guide Valo from concept through to certification and entry into service.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate programme milestones into detailed aircraft-level deliverables for the Systems Safety & Systems Engineering team

  • Build and maintain integrated, resource-loaded schedules aligned with the overall aircraft development plan

  • Monitor progress against key milestones, managing dependencies and highlighting risks

  • Track departmental budget, including support contracts, licences and training, and flag any variances early

  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs to ensure aircraft-level deliverables are consistent and integrated

  • Support lifecycle planning through requirements maturity, safety evidence, configuration baselines and mass properties inputs

  • Lead internal reviews and contribute to wider programme reviews, ensuring key decisions and actions are captured and followed up

  • Maintain clear reporting to senior leadership on progress, risks, and support needed

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience managing technical programmes or complex engineering projects in aerospace, automotive, or a similar high-tech industry

  • Strong understanding of engineering development lifecycles, especially in systems engineering, safety, and configuration management

  • A track record of delivering against challenging cost, schedule, and technical goals

  • Confidence working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and resolving cross-functional issues

  • Experience with project management and scheduling tools such as MS Project, PLM or ERP systems

  • Great communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and present clear updates to stakeholders

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, risk management and continuous improvement

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, certifiable outcomes
