Your role and your team:

The successful candidate will play a key role in the IT Operations team, leading & supporting IT infrastructure and application services onsite at our Head Office in Munich, Germany.

Our IT team enables our business with flexible, scalable, fit-for-purpose and secure IT solutions, covering all areas from a modern workplace, communication and collaboration platforms to highly secure, high performance and reliable data center services.

In this role you will be reporting directly to the Head of IT Operations and will be accountable for IT Infrastructure services on a global level.

Your day to day

Strategic:

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 Senior IT System Engineers
  • Accountable for all aspects of IT Infrastructure on a global level ranging from LAN/WAN, on premise server rooms, cloud services (Azure, AWS) to system administration (OS, databases, middleware). In support of these activities, he/she exercises management authority for the global teams in his/her area. Responsible for defining the organization’s strategy, IT infrastructure architecture, governance, projects and processes.
  • Increase standardization of core processes; improve processes in support of strategic imperatives and programs.
  • Demonstrates autonomy by executing tool and channel strategy, gathering requirements from multiple sources, obtaining, and coordinating the proper approvals, and partnering to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing and implanting procedures/processes and ensuring team can execute according to guidelines provided; this will include development of templates, documented processes, best practices and standards.
  • Liaise with other global IT entities in the HQ and the markets and business stakeholders to ensure the alignment of the services to the needs of Lilium
  • Relationship management, promoting and leading change represents a significant part of the function
  • Establish and manage the relationship with vendors and external suppliers
  • Ensure the implementation and control of Service Level Agreements, providing senior IT management and key stakeholders with transparency in monitoring and reporting

Operational:

  • Collect and manage IT demands from our business units
  • Scout market, run proof-of-concepts of IT solutions to fulfil businesses’ IT demands
  • Create IT architecture designs in line with the IT standards and company policies
  • Establish, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency
  • Install, add, change, upgrade, migrate or decommission IT services and applications
  • Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Provide ongoing maintenance/support/upgrades of IT infrastructure and applications
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

Your Profile:  

  • Core experience of System Administration and Engineering (Windows & Linux)
  • Additional experience as a Team Lead working in a multi-cultural and international environment
  • Sound understanding and experience in wide range of IT technologies:
    • Virtualization (VMWare)
    • Database management systems (MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
    • Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)
    • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, PHP or others)
    • Enterprise backup & recovery (Veeam)
    • Good understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
    • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
    • Active Directory / Azure AD, DNS, DHCP
  • Ability to work in a highly energetic, dynamic and fast-moving environment
  • Willing and able to take on new and unfamiliar IT technologies, constant learning
  • Strong motivation to help build and shape the organisation, structures and processes
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, any other languages would be beneficial
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science, or similar working experience

Certifications, not required but helpful:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • VMware Certified Professional 6- Data Center Virtualization
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or AWS certified solution architect
