Role Description

We are looking for a creative and diligent systems engineer to lead requirements management, tying together product requirements, functional requirements, compliance, and validation testing using a thoughtful and collaborative process. The requirements framework will ensure Form Energy delivers products exceeding customer expectations. This position will take an active role in ensuring successful product certification and influence certification standards for the new fields of long duration energy storage and Fe/air batteries. Further, this role will aid in defining a robust framework for battery cell requirements and qualification testing. Experience in energy storage product development in industry is strongly preferred. This individual will collaborate with a rapidly growing team of engineers at the exciting intersection of technology development, product development, product management, and program management to develop our first multi-day storage product.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a requirements roadmap for Form Energy’s multi-day energy storage system
  • Develop the tools and processes by which Form Energy manages product requirements
  • Define Form Energy’s verification and validation (V&V) test plan and work with our Test and Validation team to execute
  • Distinguish key cell-level requirements and cell qualification strategy
  • Lead compliance engineering
  • Manage compliance engineering staff members
  • Drive NRTL engagement to product certification
  • Participate in standard committees to create new certification standards and influence development of existing ones
  • Define and execute our pre-certification test plan
  • Establish the safety design strategy to comply with and certification requirements
  • System architecture
  • Collaborate with battery module architecture team to ensure the product meets requirements
  • Drive key design and performance trade studies among system components
  • Contribute to systems performance modeling
  • Be the primary point of contact for engagement with Project Engineering, Product Management, and Applications Engineering
  • Responsible for delivering documentation to internal and external customers in support of project development and engineering activities
  • What You'll Bring

  • BSc or greater in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 5+ years experience working in energy storage
  • Passion for good documentation; a tendency to cross every T and dot every I
  • Experience managing a new product development initiative, through commercial launch
