Your role and your team: 

The Propulsion Vectoring System (PVS) Lead will be responsible for leading the design of a complex mechatronic system by defining the requirements; evaluating concepts; guiding and approving detailed designs; interfacing with suppliers, certification authorities and internal stakeholders (other systems/disciplines, supply chain, program management etc); supporting integration tests and flight tests; maintaining documentation and taking responsibility for the success of the PVS as a whole.

The successful applicant will need a strong technical background and a holistic approach, combined with excellent decision making, stakeholder management and team leadership skills.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Define and manage the schedule plan and milestones for the entire system including mechanical and electrical sub-systems and their integration
  • Coordinating development plans at system and sub-system level
  • Managing system and sub-system level requirements and specifications and flow-down to project team
  • Generating mechanical and electrical system and sub-system architectures
  • Performing integration interface at system and electronics & actuator sub-system level
  • Review and approve test plans and reports from unit to system level
  • Management of transversal topics and technical specialists across electrical, mechanical, thermal, software and control systems.
  • Take responsibility for interactions with other business areas (supply chain, project management, etc.)
  • Represent the company in meetings with airworthiness authorities, within the domain of propulsion vectoring
  • Supporting the certification basis preparation (applicable standards, documents, MoCs, etc.)
  • Lead the systems engineering tasks related to qualification of the propulsion vectoring system including validation and verification process, propulsion systems integration, etc.
  • Manage risks and issues and develop mitigation plans at all levels (short term and long term up to certification) to meet company milestones

Your Profile: 

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, etc)
  • Expertise in one of the following areas, with good knowledge of others:
    • Motor control electronics
    • Power electronics
    • Electrical machine design
    • Mechanical actuation
    • Gear design & tribology
    • Thermal management of mechatronic system
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder management and ability to make complex data-driven decisions under pressure
  • Knowledge / experience of ARP4754 design assurance for complex systems development, systems engineering
  • Knowledge / experience of RTCA-DO-160 environmental test standards
  • Basic knowledge on EMC/EMI/lightning design and test
  • Experience in sensors and avionics communication protocols
