Your role and your team:

We are looking for an outstanding Autoflight System Engineer to join our innovative team that will shape the future of urban e-mobility.

This position will report into our Avionics Manager inside the Electronic & Electrical Engineering department and will contribute as part of the "Autoflight" integrated cross functional team, to the Autoflight system architecture, design, certification and delivery of the Lilium Jet.

You will have a chance in shaping the future of mobility by not only defining the Autoflight System but also developing components and co-ordination with regulatory partners/suppliers.

You will take responsibility for the development of subsystems and components and ensure their compliance to safety standards.

Your Day to Day:

  • Identify and define System and Functions Requirements for Autoflight system.
  • Identify applicable operational and airworthiness certification basis.
  • Contribute to the development of acceptable means of compliance through participation in different forums (EUROCAE, RTCA, SAE).
  • Set the architecture and techniques used for the Autoflight of the Lilium Jet.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders for Autoflight system development and design.
  • Interface with potential suppliers.
  • Support design review meeting when required.
  • Support program schedules and plans.
  • Support System Safety Analysis.
  • Implement and support V&V Strategy.
  • Support of components manufacturing and their installation.
  • Implement and test solutions in a rapid development environment.
  • Use and develop Lilium’s simulation, testing, and verification tools.
  • Development of required system documentation (e.g. SDD) in supporting Autoflight development and certification.

Your Profile:

  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace development / aircraft systems.
  • Relevant Experience with Autopilot, Flight Guidance, Flight Director and Speed Control.
  • Experience with Automatic Landing System and Automatic Take-off System.
  • Experience with following Systems is considered a plus:
    • Experience with FMS.
    • Experience with navigation systems: DME, ILS, VOR, GPS
    • Experience with PBN, RNAV, or RNP concepts.
    • Experience with Flight Controls/FBW.
  • Experience in aeronautical systems integration and systems engineering according to ARP4754.
  • Experience with Autoflight applicable FAA or EASA regulations and advisory material (FAR/CS 23,25,27,29).
  • Experience in development of safety critical systems.
