Join our Procurement & Supply Chain team based in Bristol as a Supplier Quality Manager and help us to achieve our mission of pioneering electric aviation.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Supplier Quality Team who'll be delivering our critical VX4 Aircraft certification programme, encompassing assessment, onboarding, management, monitoring, development, and continual improvement initiatives.

You'll report to our Head of Supplier Management, with autonomy to lead the end-to-end Supplier Quality process to ensure parts are delivered on time, at the required rate as well as to the required quality standard.

What success will look like for the Supplier Quality Manager

  • You will lead the team to complete all Supplier Quality Assessments of our Certification suppliers leading to supplier onboarding activities as required to ensure suppliers have capability and supporting processes to deliver quality products against their scope of approval.

  • For those suppliers on contract, you will lead the team in.

  • Managing supplier performance management using supplier scorecards (e.g., SQCDP) using KPI driven data to identify process improve opportunities.

  • On-site visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues.

  • Managing supplier quality records (e.g., compliance documentation (CofC’s, FAIR’s, Inspection reports etc))

  • Rectifying internal and external supplier nonconformances to determine root cause and manage corrective action(s) to prevent recurrence

  • Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) to define process criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.

  • Develop and improve quality processes that will drive down defects and cost of quality. Establish regular communication (weekly/monthly) with all strategic suppliers to maintain relationships and review performance trends.

  • Promote supplier development initiatives to drive continual improvement and cost effectiveness.

  • You’ll be instrumental in developing key suppliers through implementation and improvement of Quality tools ((PFMEA, Process Flow Diagram, Control plans, process capability studies, Measurement Systems analysis etc) aligned with APQP.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of systems and process to ensure compliance with aerospace management system(s) (AS9100, Part 21 Design Assurance System/Production Management System requirement(s)) in the context of supplier quality requirements.

  • Work closely with Procurement, Programme Quality and Operations to ensure consistent supply of conforming products.

  • Regular travel to suppliers will be required (UK & Overseas).

What would we like you to bring.

  • Degree qualified preferred, experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of education.

  • Experience of Supplier Quality using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methodologies within a regulated environment of advanced technology (e.g., aerospace, defence, automotive),

  • Experience in quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949 etc).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to use six sigma and quality core tools such as PFMEA, 8D, 5 Whys, process mapping etc. Vertical Aerospace Group Ltd., • Experience auditing suppliers to ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, IATF 16949 or CAA Part 21 requirements.

  • Competency in reading Engineering drawings or CAD models as well as interpreting Specification(s) detail into test requirements.

  • Proven experience of ability to communicate and present data effectively with all levels of the organisation, from production associates to leadership team.

  • Be self-motivated and have a positive can-do attitude.
