Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Electronics to serve as the definitive technical and quality authority for our contract-manufactured (CM) custom electronics including PCBAs, electronic box builds, and high-power harness assemblies. Reporting to the Global Supply Management team, you will own the end-to-end industrialization lifecycle, from early-stage DFM and supplier selection through mass production and "cradle-to-grave" quality accountability. As a Staff level engineer, you will architect the quality frameworks—including PPAP and APQP—necessary to ensure our electronics partners scale with world-class reliability.

This is a hybrid role, which will require working onsite from our Berkeley, CA office 3-4 days per week. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:

  • Own the Quality Lifecycle: Lead the development and execution of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for all electronics assemblies, ensuring suppliers meet rigorous standards for PCBA, SMT, and complex box builds.

  • Architect Manufacturing Standards: Determine the methods, procedures, and evaluation criteria for new electronics programs, leading the formulation of top-level assembly (TLA) processes that align with Form Energy’s long-term scaling targets.

  • Lead Complex Resolutions: Act as the primary technical leader to resolve high-impact production issues, networking with key contacts across Design, Reliability, and Test teams to implement systemic corrective actions (CAPA).

  • Drive Strategic Accountability: Model initiative by deliberately removing blocks in the supply chain; you will supervise and mentor supplier resources to ensure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and yield outcomes exceed organizational targets.

  • Guide Early-Stage Design: Influence the technology roadmap by embedding advanced Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/A) principles into early-stage designs, ensuring seamless transitions from prototype to mass production.

  • Global Quality Leadership: Manage domestic and international supplier relationships through deep technical audits and source inspections, traveling (20%) to ensure process stability and compliance at the factory floor.

What you'll bring:

  • Typically 7–10+ years of related work experience in new product development of electronics (PCBA, SMT, thru-hole, and electronic box builds).

  • Deep expertise in PCBA manufacturing and the industrialization of custom electronic assemblies.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing PPAP/APQP and managing supplier quality performance through data-driven metrics and yield analysis.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.

  • Proven ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, demonstrating both depth and breadth of knowledge in electronics manufacturing.

  • Ability to network with key contacts outside of your own area of expertise to drive organizational-level results.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
