Staff Software Engineer - Performance (f/m/d)

The role

Your tasks and responsibilities

• You are part of a cross-functional team, where you will own the platform capabilities of the product and enable other squads to deliver scalable, performant, and well-designed software 
• You conceptualize, develop and optimize distributed and containerized Software Systems to continuously evolve envelio's core products in an agile working environment  
• You analyze current status quo of envelio's products, identify bottlenecks for scale-up of these functionalities, and propose solution streams to ensure scalability 
• You advocate towards the other squads in the department for best patterns and practices in architecture, system design, coding, performance, and testing
• You develop strategic pathways for evolving the product's tech stack to state of the art solutions, with consideration of expected usage pattern and performance needs, incl. the processing of big data workloads 
• You have ambitious quality objectives and accompany the entire process, from concept over implementation through testing until go-live  

• Agile working method with Kanban in interdisciplinary squads  
• Continuous integration / Continuous delivery  
• Clean (and simple) code, documentation   
• Regular code reviews and Merge Requests 
• Knowledge sharing sessions between developers   
• “You Code it – You Own it” – Squad responsibility for certain functional areas of the product 

What you need to succeed

• You have + 5 year(s) of relevant experience in the development of web applications with strong experience in backend components and system architecture. During this time, you encountered containerized software setups, RESTful APIs and the challenge of scaling up existing functionalities and databases 
• You are familiar with containerized systems, distributed computing, horizontal scaling and the design process for adequate performance based on usage requirements 
• You are willing to deep-dive into the topic of resource-efficient end-to-end Architecture and are eager to provide consulting to other Squads with your knowledge 
• You have solid organizational and communication skills and proven ability to articulate technical requirements with internal stakeholders. 
• You are a team player and passionate about working with talented and inspiring people   
• You are looking for technical challenges and pride yourself in finding smart and creative solutions  
• You are familiar with significant parts of our tech Stack and are willing to challenge the status quo to prepare us for future requirements 
• You are business-fluent in English (Level C1)
