Role summary

In this role, you will be a technical lead to build Rivian’s OMS Platform & API services to support partner teams. OMS platform will integrate with existing set of services & build new UI experiences for internal applications.

This person should be an experienced leader who is able to work with product management, engineering leaders, cross functional teams and architects to envision a world class product. This person should be able to take ownership of their domain, be able to manage uncertainties, and be driven to tackle problems at multiple levels, with an eye at managing system scalabilities and performance across the back end.

Responsibilities

  • Create client-side applications along the vehicle customer journey, from the moment the customer takes the keys, to their experience when charging, to when their vehicle needs service.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product designers to build user-friendly, immersive, reactive applications.
  • Collaborate with data systems engineers to help define the endpoint integration needs of your team.
  • Come together with your peers to share ideas, ask why with an open and curious mind, learn from each other’s diverse perspectives, to deliver great work as a team.
  • Develop, unit test, and document performant code, ensuring efficient browser memory usage and fast load time.
  • Help define the architectural vision of the team.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience, with 5+ years of building large scale enterprise grade systems.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technology field required
  • Experience building distributed systems at scale which can handle millions of transactions/seconds.
  • Software development experience in Python, Node.js.
  • Proficiency in developing frontend components and single-page applications using technologies like Typescript and React (or similar) with a keen eye for design.
  • Cloud development experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Comfortable navigating trade-offs to bring the right data structure and algorithms to the problem.
  • Meticulous around visibility of the systems you build – security, metrics, centralized logging, tracing.
  • Dedicated to unit, integration testing and coverage – comfortable using tools of the trade on profiling, source control.
  • Experience developing APIs with the care they deserve with GraphQL/REST.
  • Experience and familiarity with cloud native deployment practices – specifically containers and container orchestration platforms.
  • Experience with publish/subscribe event buses as well as distributed data stores.
  • Strong technical background in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technology field.
  • Solid understanding of databases (Postgres, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • Familiarity working with AWS Lambdas, Docker and Kubernetes or other serverless and container-based architectures.
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructures (AWS preferred)
