Job Description
ChargePoint is seeking a Staff Test Engineer to join our growing Test Engineering team. Our test systems are deployed to our manufacturing locations and interact with our products' software, electrical and mechanical components during the manufacturing process. The Staff Test Engineer will be responsible for creating a common architecture and processes for High-Power EV Charger Systems and overseeing consistent implementation across product lines and factory locations.
This role is critical to the successful design, integration, and deployment of automated functional testers to ensure all our electromechanical sub-assemblies and systems are manufactured, programmed, configured, and assembled according to specifications. You will be involved with test infrastructure throughout their entire lifecycle and by cultivating strong cross-functional relationships with a diverse group of Hardware, Software, and Operations teams. You will also support test design engineers and mentor junior engineers on the team to help them achieve their full potential at ChargePoint.
Responsibilities
Collaborate on advanced hardware projects through the entire product test development lifecycle
Cross-functional definition of test requirements for high-volume manufacturing processes
Participate in product design reviews, code reviews, and test coverage reviews
Establish and maintain guidelines for documentation of requirements and test plans
Help define and measure KPIs for quality to drive actionable improvements
Mentor and inspire junior engineers
Travel internationally to manufacturing facilities to support NPI and test HW updates (5%)
Qualifications
BS or MS in engineering with 8+ years of experience with an emphasis on high-power electronics, infrastructure, and technical leadership
Strong fundamentals in Analog/Power electronics and High power distribution design
Hands-on experience with power electronics hardware development and testing
Experience with equipment for Power Characterization and Test
Collaborative approach to project management and organizational skills
Proficient in Python and/or other programming languages, familiar with UNIX
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with PCB-level manufacturing test methodologies (ICT, FCT, AOI, etc.)
Mechatronics and/or Systems Integration background
Experience with motor controllers, grid-connected inverters, chargers, power conversion topologies
Prior PLC, Test Automation, and Integration experience
Experience with mechanical systems

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $85,000 to $164,000. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
