We are currently seeking a Sr. Technical Specialist, Occupant Package & Ergonomics to lead our Human Factors team. This position requires an experienced professional with a responsibility to function as voice of customers, make sure to deliver class leading vehicles in terms of occupant package and overall vehicle ergonomics. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a demanding environment. 

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

 ·       California (Bay Area) - $165,000 - $236,000 

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

The Role:

  • Lead and mentor the Human Factors team [Occupant Package & Ergonomics] to ensure world class in-cabin comfort, interior space, and overall vehicle ergonomics.
  • Overall responsible to deliver the overall occupant package & ergonomics attribute for each Lucid program.
  • Work cross functionally with design, engineering, and other teams from concept stage of product to ensure the most optimized occupant package & ergonomics performance for the program.
  • Lead the team to work extensively along side seating team to deliver world class comfort for the seats.
  • Measure, illustrate and communicate the overall occupant package status based on common industry standards (e.g., SAE J1100)
  • Design, develop and utilize the physical mockups [including ergo buck] and virtual tools to aid in validating the occupant package & overall comfort requirements.
  • Employ and develop efficient tools and an innovative approach to develop team’s capability for overall ergonomics assessment efficiency.
  • Presenting overall occupant layout and attribute targets/status to executive team throughout product development cycle. 
  • Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of related experience in vehicle occupant layout, ergonomics, and human factors.
  • 2+ years of people leader experience leading 3 or more professionals in occupant package & ergonomics.
  • Experience in delivering overall occupant package & ergonomics attribute on complete vehicle development cycle as an attribute owner.
  • Proven record of working efficiently in a cross functional collaborative manner with wide variety of teams ranging from design studio, concept engineering, body structure, interior trim engineering, seating etc.
  • Proven record in delivering overall in-cabin comfort, interior space and controls/displays usability and experience in presenting the attribute targets/status to company executive team.
  • Firsthand experience with both subjective as well as quantitative methods of ergonomic evaluations [including seat comfort]
  • Understanding of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards, FMVSS/ECE regulation to create occupant layout concepts including spaciousness and visibility requirements.
  • Experience with RAMSIS, CAVA & CAD tool skills to create, integrate and maintain 2D/3D vehicle occupant layouts and ergonomics target package [including reach, interior space, vision zones etc.]. 
  • Advantageous:

  • Firsthand experience in creating attribute status presentations for executive level team and a confident presenter.
  • Deep understanding of different quantitative methods to validate occupant comfort in the car [including techniques to quantify seat comfort].
  • Experience in leading the user clinics/customer surveys to capture as well as validate user ergonomic requirements. 
  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science in relevant discipline required.
  • Master’s degree in engineering/science in relevant discipline preferred.
