Position Summary

In this role you will be responsible for driving all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering at Antora’s new pilot facility in San Jose. You will lead/define all aspects of introducing a novel product design to the manufacturing shop floor, including definition of process, design & commissioning of tooling & work centers, and first builds. You will develop these processes, tools, and work centers from first use through maturity to full-scale production. You will be hands-on and build the things you design to create the factory of the future for thermal batteries. In addition, the candidate will embody the Antora values, demonstrating teamwork, excellent communication, and excellence in engineering.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the build and inspection process for the assembly and integration of the thermal battery
  • Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency and delivery
  • Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale production challenges
  • Work with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and implementation in a rapidly evolving production environment
  • Resolve product non-conformances and collaborate with the quality team to implement root cause corrective actions
  • Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet volume production demand
  • Develop and refine floor layouts, capacity models, and product flow analysis to ensure on-time vehicle delivery to manifest
  • Lead prototype builds by ensuring incremental milestones for production development are met
  • Develop key validation methods & metrics to ensure the as-built product meets the design requirements 
  • Demonstrate ownership of projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept generation through fabrication and production bring-up
  • Solve complex, open-ended problems with an emphasis on speed of execution and efficiency

Key Qualifications

  • Education and industry experience will determine level; minimum requirements are as follows:
    • Sr. Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Electrical Engineering with 6+ years relevant industry experience OR Master’s degree with 4+ years relevant industry experience
    • Staff Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering with 10+ years relevant industry experience OR Master’s degree with 8+ years relevant industry experience
      Examples of relevant industry experience include power generation, aerospace, propulsion, or other industrial hardware products
  • Capable of providing thought leadership for the team as a technical subject matter expert. Contributes to development of manufacturing system architecture, while helping to mitigate technical and schedule risk.
  • Strong proficiency in independently developing and delivering projects as the responsible engineer from cradle to grave
  • Strong proficiency in generating process definition and work instruction for novel, first-to-market designs.
  • Strong proficiency in the interaction between PLM, MES, ERP, and MRP systems
  • Strong proficiency in common manufacturing processes like welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, etc for low-mid volume production 
  • Proficiency in systems analysis and managing risks across large and complex systems, preferably using tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • Proficiency in team-wide development of engineering processes, standards, infrastructure, and best practices.
  • Collaborative working style with strong written and verbal communication skills; gives + accepts feedback with humility; puts the mission and team first when solving problems.

Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Proficiency in creating 3D CAD in Solidworks and managing data in PDM (Product Data Management) software or equivalent (ie Siemens NX and Teamcenter)
  • Strong proficiency with GD&T, ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with DOE, gage R&R, and process qualifications
  • Experience defining production data requirements and statistical process control (SPC)

 

Work Location:  Onsite - San Jose, CA

Salary Range: Sr. Engineer: $147,000 USD - $185,000 USD  |  Staff Engineer: $179,000 USD - $215,000 USD

Salary Basis:  Annual

This job posting contains the salary range that Antora Energy believes it would be willing to pay for the posted job. The actual salary offered will be determined within the posted range based on a candidate's experience, credentials, and expertise as they pertain to the requirements of the position.
