The Software Validation Engineer – BMS, will be on the team of automated test script developers and test engineers for the BMS Test Team. Primary focus for test is SW on BMS HILs. Development on other test system types is possible.
You’ll work closely with BMS Controls, Firmware, Diagnostics & Algorithm teams to develop and maintain comprehensive automated testing from requirements, test procedures, test scripts & test runs.
You’ll coordinate and conduct automated testing per test cadence needs on SW releases. You’ll be the key element of driving the quality into our BMS software through the entire product life cycle.
This is what you’ll do:
- Develop test scripts and test-flow software:
- Test script development experience with one or more of the following tools is desirable:
ECU_Test® (by Tracetronics), Simulink/Matlab® (by Mathworks), LabVIEW® (by NI), C/C++, & Python scripting. - Experience in analyzing systems & software requirement to develop test scripts and test procedures if required.
- Acquire an expertise level of understanding for the test system APIs & ancillary tools to develop scripts that meet or exceed the test procedure objectives.
- Ability to understand system requirements and test procedures to create automated HIL test scripts.
- Knowledge on CAN/LIN Bus Communication.
- Clear understanding of UDS(Diagnostics) and Fault Injection principles.
- Participate in the Test Case Reviews to understand the scope of test development needs of features targeted per release.
- Prepare for and present Test Script Reviews against the test procedures assigned before release regression test cycles.
- Test script development experience with one or more of the following tools is desirable:
- Conduct & coordinate Test Cycles according to workflow:
- Ensure automated tests get conducted per the test cadence schedule per release.
- Configure the test systems to conduct regression testing per release.
- Analyze the test results for failures to ensure JIRA tickets are defined and routed properly.
- Communicate to HIL System Engineers & SW developers if tests fail.
- Prepare all documentation related to Validation and report to Software Test Lead as needed.
- Coordinate with engineers to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks, dictated by the respective milestones
- Must be able to adapt to dynamic development timelines, with aggressive software release cadences
- Communicate project status regularly to reflect projections based on up-to-date information
- Participate in HIL Team Agile Workflow process to coordinate and complete project tasks.
- Support and collaborate with design & development engineers for testing needs in other BMS areas:
- Display a hands-on attitude and motivation to perform what’s necessary to get the job done
- Quickly transition to the expert in BMS HIL Testing for the Rivian Automotive.
This is what you’ll need:
- 2+ years’ work experience in related field.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in engineering disciplines
- Experience with scripting or programming development for embedded systems.
- Working knowledge with HV Battery systems or Battery controls software/testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; reliant on core engineering principals & common sense
- Strong communication, multitasking, & inter-personal skills, both in presentation & technical writing
- Working knowledge with requirements management tools such as e.g. JAMA, PTC Integrity, Doors, etc.
- Working knowledge of issue tracking tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, IBM Rationale ClearQuest®, etc.
