Responsibilities

  • Primary contact to represent High Voltage Distribution group in Rivian’s Production Manufacturing location.
  • Support all aspects of High Voltage Distribution Systems issues related to design, assembly or quality.
  • Work with component owners to review / complete all process assembly documentation (PAD) and ensure assembly sequences are followed in plant.
  • Support failure analysis activities throughout launch and production life. This includes internal issues as well as Warranty / Field issues.
  • Participate in meetings with cross functional teams (Plant Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.) to represent High Voltage Distribution group.
  • Participate in technical discussions to assure issue containment up to resolution.
  • Collect, maintain, and report out on a range of product assembly High Voltage issues.
  • Track all reported issues from the plant and ensure they are communicated to the component owners within High Voltage Distribution System or cross function areas.
  • Using problem solving tools and techniques, trouble shoot all high voltage issues with the manufacturing team.
  • Lead High Voltage Distribution cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives related to assembly.
  • Coordinate and execute in-plant design changes, trials and reworks related to High Voltage Distribution Systems.
  • Ensure any rework instructions and rework activities are completed in-house at the production location.
  • Coordinate supplier visits to the plant to ensure that any activities requiring supplier intervention are completed with the supplier in-house.
  • Coordinate high voltage component reception and actions for trials, analysis of issues or engineering changes.
  • Support Campaign Prevention Reviews.
  • Support wire harness and vehicle assembly builds at all stages of pre-production and production.

Qualifications

  • BSME or BSEE degree with at least 5 years of automotive work experience in areas like: engineering design, release, vehicle testing or manufacturing (OEM or Tier 1).
  • Favorable experience includes:
      • High Voltage distribution systems (electrical wiring).
      • Electric propulsion systems (Motor, Inverter, Battery, etc.).
      • High voltage components (Inverter, Converter, Charger, Charge Inlet, etc.)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design changes.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a bias for action and issue resolution.
  • Ability to understand inter-dependency of different components.
  • Understanding of hardware design and failure modes.
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms.
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architectures and components.
  • Understanding of end of line plant testing.
  • Familiarity with BoM, CATIA, GD&T, DFMEA and DVP&R.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to navigate between fine details and the big picture for problem resolution.
  • Knowledge of requirements for vehicle performance and testing (durability, NVH, vehicle dynamics, thermal, aerodynamics, etc.)
  • Some domestic travel (~10%) may be required to support development and Supplier readiness.
