The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering, design, and development for lighting components such as lenses, and light guide reflectors world-class vehicles. You will lead projects for simulation of the performance of headlights, signal lighting components, optic sensors, visual instruments, and displays. In addition, this role will do the characterization of lighting and optical components in the lab.

Role

  • Conduct optical simulations for automotive lamps and lighting components
  • Execute appearance studies for exterior and interior lighting
  • Analyze veiling glare and display reflections with optical simulation and measurement tools
  • Characterize automotive lamps and lighting components in an optical lab using goniometers, photometric cameras, and other analytical tools
  • Conduct benchmark studies of lighting components
  • Source tools, software, and equipment to extend photometric characterization and lighting simulation methods at LUCID
  • Analyze appearance of car exterior and interior in VR with the focus on lighting components
  • Optical system engineering with features definition, functions specification definition, and function tests
  • Qualifications

  • 5 plus years of engineering experience
  • Intermediate to advanced level of engineering lighting products
  • Deep knowledge in optical design and simulation tools (e.g. SPEOS, LightTools, ZEMAX, OSLO)Experienced in VR and rendering tools (VRED, VRX, Keyshot,…)
  • Experienced visualization hardware (HMI, CAVE systems)
  • Experienced with CATIA V5 or V6Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Advantageous

  • Previous automotive experience is a plus
  • Knowledge in data acquisition and analysis (LabView, Python, Image acquisition) is a plus
  • Previous experience with programming, automation/scripting (Python, Matlab, VBA, or similar) is a plus
  • Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Optical engineering or Physics
