This position assumes responsibility for all BIW operations in Lucid Manufacturing’s AMP-2 Vehicle Assembly Plant in King Abdullah Economic City, KSA.
As this will be a Greenfield facility, the successful incumbent will be required to recruit his or her team, ensure successful completion of all pre-series production training activities and work with the Lucid Manufacturing Engineering and Launch teams to successfully secure a pre-defined Start of Production date in the Kingdom. The BIW Operations Senior Manager will have responsibility for all production and maintenance activities across the BIW technology and to ensure the body structure is manufactured to the highest levels of Quality, first time and every time.
Whilst not directly responsible for it, this individual will be very active in the BIW facility design & construction process, ensuring the ‘voice of the plant’ is listened to. They will also provide their approval of all pre-series production launch phases, working closely with the Global manufacturing launch and Manufacturing Engineering teams. Regular interfacing with Quality, Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) and EHS departments will also be expected. The candidate will need to form relationships with local teams in KSA but also with peers from Lucid’s US operations therefore both English and Arabic languages are a requirement.

THE ROLE
Assume responsibility for all operations across the BIW facility to ensure that deployed business targets are met and local KPI’s achieved.Define the BIW organization needed to execute Lucid’s operational plans and the operational model needed to satisfy Lucid’s Business Plans.Working alongside HR and Lucid’s Learning & Development functions, ensure a world-class recruiting, onboarding, training and development process is in place. Utilizing Lucid’s core values, develop, model and deploy initiatives to ensure the correct culture is understood and in place within the BIW technology. Manage all personnel resources necessary to manufacture the vehicle and all coaching, performance reviews, target setting and disciplinary action if necessary.Supporting the Manufacturing Engineering and Global Launch teams, define the ‘Model Plant’ BIW facility and support it’s successful implementation. Assume complete responsibility of the BIW technology after Start of Production.Working alongside the Plant Quality team, develop and execute the BIW Quality & Metrology plan to ensure this attribute is clearly measured, understood and built into the process and culture within the BIW technology.Promote a ‘culture of efficiency’ through Lean Manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and 5S, and Operational Excellence initiatives to support business needs.Ensure that all equipment and resources are available and functioning at a level to ensure the daily production goals are being met on a consistent basis.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATONS
Understanding of vehicle design and manufacturing industry practices from either OEM or Tier 1 perspectiveExperience in setting up or operating an OEM BIW technology area is essentialFirst hand experience of using production policies, principles and proceduresKnowledge of tools to plan headcount, workstation layouts, shift patterns and understanding of general operational models is essentialExperience of BIW assembly equipment selectionKnowledge of assembly robot cell design, planning and implementation is advantageousExperience in setting up a Greenfield Operation is highly advantageous
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
8+ years’ experience in an Automotive Assembly operationExperience managing hourly and salaried employeesA strong focus on safety and creating a Safety CultureA solid aptitude for negotiation, decision making, and problem solvingTeam facilitation, organization and coordinationBS minimum. MS preferred in the areas of mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, manufacturing engineering, or other related fields.
