What You’ll Do:

In the Senior Design Engineer role you will be responsible for the detailed design of Archer’s Electric Engine, with a focus on the integration of the motor, gearbox, inverter, and thermo-lubrication systems. You will have direct design ownership over several components and be responsible for moving these parts through design, manufacturing/assembly, and test/validation phases. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing innovative solutions to design problems
  • Designing mechanical components like gears, shafts, pumps, structural housings, fasteners, oil transfer devices, etc.
  • Creating component drawings and working with suppliers to manufacture your designs
  • Performing component level finite element analysis to validate designs
  • Presenting in design reviews
  • Designing test setups for design validation
  • Supporting engineering prototype builds and design validation testing 

What You Need:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years or MS with 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • Experience in EV powertrain space
  • Experience in design of gear and bearing systems
  • Strong CAD and drafting skills including proficiency using GD&T
  • Experience with product life management systems, including BOMs and engineering change orders
  • Experience performing FEA on components and small assemblies
  • Basic Matlab or Python skills
  • Hands on experience with hardware builds and teardowns
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Strong presentation skills

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Aerospace and/or automotive development experience
  • Thermal modeling or CFD experience
  • Experience using Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Amesim, or ANSYS

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
