We are currently seeking a Sr. Manager, Technical Program Management Embedded Software. This position requires an experienced professional with a proven track record of excellence and managerial achievement.  The candidate is an accomplished senior team manager with experience orchestrating and driving software projects and programs.  This person will have strong leadership capabilities with an innate ability to influence talented engineering teams and stakeholders to coordinate a seamless technical program development effort.  The candidate communicates effectively and efficiently to ensure all team members are aware of the most relevant program milestones and expectations set by the vehicle program team.  Critical issues are promptly identified and presented to senior management alongside a concise action plan for resolution.  Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and approaches their work with vigor and a determination to always move things forward.  Candidates will be expected to demonstrate competence in their respective fields, possess the ability to learn quickly and strive for excellence within a complex and often ambiguous environment.

Role

  • Manages a team of TPMs responsible for the definition, development and implementation of Control Software and Platform Software of PWT, HVEE, LVEE, BMS, etc. 
  • Responsible to drive technical projects/programs end-to-end of embedded software, of complex electronic control modules. Including support and coordination of software architecture and system design, hardware design, specification of technical features and specs, unit testing, verification, integration and validation processes, etc.
  • Engages in vehicle programs from the conceptual design phase to the start of production, including series maintenance and model upgrades as it relates to software development.
  • Executes cross-functional system release plans including requirements from involved areas like product marketing, product management, hardware development, infotainment system, etc.
  • Designs and implements effective program management processes and best practices from initiation to completion in partnership with the hardware, software and manufacturing teams.
  • Communicates to the larger team and senior management the status of the program, design directions, risks and plans to mitigate with the ability to negotiate exceptions, trade-offs and scope changes while achieving consensus to move programs forward.
  • Executes solid root-cause analysis and reporting with the ability to identify and predict possible deviations related to product architecture or other technical change requirements.
  • Proactively evaluates design and engineering decisions, making sure they don’t cause gaps in correlation with the program schedule, budget and scope.
  • Expedites revisions, corrections, and implementation of necessary changes to new or previously published documentation.
  • Fosters strong cross-functional partnerships and is able to effectively prioritize workload demands to meet project deadlines.

  • Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams, preferably in the software development domain.
  • 10+ year of experience in technical leadership, system engineering and/or technical program management of software development.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the automotive industry, or equivalent.
  • Experience in automotive development processes, including: design reviews, change management i.e. ECR evaluation with the supplier(s), deviation requests, etc.
  • Experience with software verification, validation and integration processes.
  • Knowledge of automotive and safety standards (e.g. ASPICE, ISO26262, etc.)
  • Experience in mobile, embedded and firmware systems as a hands-on driving leader.
  • Experience with automotive communication and diagnostics protocols (e.g. Ethernet, CAN, LIN, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum/Sprint and continuos improvement (CI) methodologies.
  • A proven track record of driving the development and delivery of software products.
  • Experience contributing to and working within the Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Experience building, developing, and managing highly effective program management tools and processes.
  • Solid root-cause analysis sense with the ability to correlate e.g. product architecture modifications to technical changes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills utilizing documentation and presentation tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Confluence and other.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and work in a fast-paced highly complex environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize efforts to drive against the product roadmap and schedule to deliver projects on time.
  • Ability to inspire confidence within the team, colleagues, engineering and executive level leadership.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex problems and effectively facilitate the team to a decision and coordinate the action plan.
  • Solid skills in evaluation and criticism of engineering decisions and changes.
  • Availability to travel within the US and internationally as needed.

  • Advantageous:
  • Ability to influence software architecture and system designs pulling from previous experience and/or education.
  • Experience with hardware-related software development (e.g. microcontroller abstraction layers, drivers, etc.)
  • Proficiency in AUTOSAR architecture.
  • Experience with BSW platform software development.
  • Experience with distributed software development (e.g. Communication signals impacting multiple features in different ECUs).
  • Experience with bootloader development.
  • Knowledge of automation test in Jenkins.
  • Experience with Tableau reports
  • Experience with Jama requirements management.
  • Individual contributor to the design and development of complex electronic control units is highly valued.
  • Experience with Atlassian Software (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Education

  • BS in Software/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Project Management training. PMP certificate is highly valued.
