The Role:
Synthesize standards and regulatory requirements for pack and module safety appliable in different key markets for automotive applications.Own and develop the Lithium-ion pack and module abuse test validation plan for BOL and EOL samples.Work with the engineering teams to track pack changes during prototype and serial life phases to validate that the newer design maintains the appropriate safety level.Support the battery abuse test team in the build-up of designs of experiments to acquire high-quality data that will later be used by the Safety, BMS, Quality, Manufacturing, Modeling and Characterization teams.Analyze abuse tests datasets and effectively communicate the extracted vehicle performance parameters (warning displayed, course of action taken by the vehicle, etc…).Work closely with the multiple cross-functional teams and suppliers.Monitor the planning of pack testing, data acquisition, and database organization to ensure that the packs validations are delivered in a qualitative and timely manner with respect to project milestones.Involved with test equipment and plan future expansion of testing capabilities together with the abuse test team.Contribute to creating a documentation system for specifications and project test results.Capable to perform domestic and international travel to supervise or contribute to abuse testing, expert committee, or field investigation.Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in HV battery systems.Experience in tracking and reviewing tests.Able to make clear, detailed, and synthetic analysis of standards, regulations, and test reports.High level of mathematical and data analysis capabilities.Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude.Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of projects.Flexibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment with frequent prioritization adjustments.Advantageous:
Experience with Atlassian, Jira and Confluence.Knowledge of abuse test standards and regulations: ISO 6469, ISO 12405, UN ECE R100, UN 38.3, GB 38031.Capable of performing battery teardowns and postmortem analysis.A history of working independently with limited oversight or input once a base understanding has been established.An ability to mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively.Experience working with high-voltage, high current systems (power supplies, batteries, etc.). Knowledge of abuse and destructive testing.Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Chemistry, and other related fields or equivalent work experience.
