The role:
Design and engineer the next generation body structure systems, subsystems, and components, from concept to productionSet detailed system and component specifications to meet high level functional requirements (crash, NVH, durability)Be at the forefront of new Lucid vehicle, platform, and body structure engineering interfacing with all other hardware teams to balance all simultaneous engineering requirementsDevelop innovative design solutions based on a deep understanding of engineering fundamentals coupled with in-depth industry experience from concept to launchBe the technical leader for all body structure aspects including structure, joining, materials, performance, water management, sealing and bafflesShape the internal processes surrounding body structure engineeringGuide the design engineering team to create well-structured 2D & 3D CAD models of parts, assemblies, joiningClosely work with engineering partners in studio, manufacturing, dimensional group, analysis groupsMentor engineers on dimensional strategy and manufacturability, quality and performanceCollaborate with test and reliability teams to develop and execute rigorous design and product validation test plansWork closely with Supply Chain and SQA to source, industrialize and PPAP vendorsSupport production launch and continuous improvement activities as neededTravel domestically and internationally as requiredQualifications:
Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or higherMinimum 10 years of relevant experience in automotive body structuresDemonstrated track record of excellence and innovation yielding tangible results in one (or more) products currently on the roadVery Good Hands-on CAD skills - preferably CATIA V6/3DXExtensive experience designing for various manufacturing processes, joining technologies, and materials including (but not limited to) stamping, casting, extrusions, aluminum & steel, self-piercing rivets, structural adhesiveExcellent organization and project management skills and ability to easily understand change management, product data management, and bill of materialExcellent written and verbal English communication skillsProactive, extreme ownership mindset and strong work ethicAbility to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environmentCollaborative, team player personality enjoying the mentoring of engineersPreferences:
