We are currently seeking a controls engineer for our power electronics department. The level will depends on the candidate’s experience. The Role:

  • Develop novel control algorithms, control strategy, modulation approaches and dynamic models of high frequency power electronics converters for vehicle and/or other energy products.
  • Evaluate new topologies for controllability and define respective controller requirements
  • Test, validate, and troubleshoot controller implementation for new and existing converter builds
  • Conduct tests to characterize converter parameters for refinement of power converter controls
  • Contribute to controller hardware selection
  • Support compliance testing of vehicle
  • Perform root-cause failure analysis and DFMEA in relation to controls
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to validate, test and refine controller design.
  • Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a control, power electronics engineer or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with ac/dc, dc/dc and dc/ac applications and control of variable frequency converters
  • Experience with advanced modulation approaches for achieving highly efficiency power electronic converter designs
  • Experience taking control design through all stages from topology development, circuit modeling, implementation and validation
  • Familiar with tools such as PLECS, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE
  • Experience designing large state machines for complex power converter implementations
  • Familiar with analog design, digital design, mixed signal design (ADCs/DACs) and their use in relation to control design.
  • Must be highly motivated, innovative and have strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to design systems that are resilient to faults and errors

  • Education:

  • Masters or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronic engineering, or equivalent degree with a focus on power electronics and/or control systems
