We are looking for a highly skilled Laser Blanker Automation Technician to join our Stamping Operations Team in Arizona. This role requires strong technical expertise in laser blanking operations, Siemens logic systems, and electrical/controls troubleshooting. You will operate and maintain state-of-the-art laser blanking lines, perform major maintenance when necessary, and apply your knowledge of automation and controls to ensure optimal performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled trades professional to work with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative, safety-focused environment. Position progression would be to Automation/Controls engineering open positions.  

You Will:

  • Operate and monitor laser blanking lines for precision cutting of automotive components.
  • Configure and optimize cutting programs, fixtures, and automation systems to meet production requirements.
  • Utilize Siemens HMI and PLC systems for diagnostics, troubleshooting, and logic adjustments (read/write capability).
  • Perform major maintenance and repairs on laser blanking equipment, automation systems, and electrical components.
  • Lead coil changes, press line setups, and ensure smooth transitions for new jobs.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and controls-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections and verify blank positioning on pallets for quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement process improvements and maintain safety standards.
  • Operate overhead cranes and 15K fork trucks for coil and pallet handling.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with quality and safety protocols.

You Bring: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or apprenticeship in electrical/controls preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in laser blanking or stamping operations.
  • Skilled trades background with strong electrical, and controls expertise.
  • Proficiency in Siemens PLC/HMI systems, including ability to read/write logic for troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Experience performing major maintenance and repairs on laser blanking lines and automation equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.         
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate a 15K fork truck (license required).

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

  •  Standing and Walking:  Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours per shift on hard surfaces in a production environment.
  •  Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, assembling components, and operating machinery. Requires fine motor skills and grip strength.
  •  Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 10–50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
  •  Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching above shoulders, bending, and twisting  waist, and squatting as part of process and tasks.
  •  Repetitive Motions: Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movements for tasks such as fastening, positioning, and installing.
  •  Climbing: Occasional use of steps to access different height level areas.
  •  PPE Expectations: Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye and hearing protection) as per company safety standards.
