About the Role

Cloud services at Base are at the center of our mission to modernize the grid and deliver reliable, affordable power to homes across America. Our market and infrastructure teams builds the software that commands a distributed fleet of residential energy systems, integrates with wholesale markets, and enables dynamic trading in real time. As a Software Engineer on this team, you’ll design and scale the systems that connect our distributed batteries with the broader energy markets, powering everything from automated deployment operations to algorithmic trading engines.

What You'll Do:

• Build the infrastructure for high-throughput trading, including integrations with market data, pricing engines, and algorithm deployment.

• Design cloud services to monitor, control, and optimize thousands of energy systems in the field.

• Develop platforms that allow rapid iteration, testing, and deployment of trading strategies.

• Implement robust, high-performance backend systems in Go, deployed across modern cloud environments.

• Work closely with teams across hardware, deployments, and operations to troubleshoot, optimize, and continuously improve our core systems.

• Participate in code reviews, testing, and release processes to ensure world-class reliability, quality, and velocity.

What We're Looking For:

• First-principles engineering mindset with the ability to simplify complex problems into elegant solutions.

• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and scaling high-performance cloud services.

• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and time series data models.

• Hands-on experience building and scaling systems on modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).

• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle: version control, code reviews, testing, and release engineering.

• A passion for mission-driven work: your code will directly shape how energy is bought, sold, and delivered.
