Zoox is transforming mobility-as-a-service by developing a fully autonomous, purpose-built fleet designed for AI to drive and humans to enjoy.
Zoox’s Core Data Infrastructure team is looking for a passionate software engineer to support our robot data transmission pipeline at scale across numerous cities. Your contributions will be critical to bringing our service to production. Responsibilities will cover high-bandwidth logging (several GB/min), data offload telemetry, large-scale data transmission and high performance networking.
Great candidates will be comfortable working at our headquarters, in the field at Zoox depots, and occasionally in the vehicles themselves. Candidates will do daily software feature development, while regularly supporting operational teams and network planning with our network operations team. Critical thinking, system design and an architectural mindset will be essential to being successful in this role.

In this role, you will:
Develop software both on and off the robot to maximize system throughput when transmitting dataWork with key stakeholders to develop initial data infrastructure required for landing in new citiesArchitect long-term network infrastructure design for permanent robot depotsIncorporate operational feedback to mature existing offload systemsDesign software for ~100x growth of our fleet to support rapid expansion through the next several yearsQualifications:
BS in computer science (or related field) or equivalent practical experienceStrong written communication skills and ability to build consensus across multiple teamsStrong Python experience and comfort working in a language without automatic memory management (e.g., C or C++)Linux systems knowledge: networks, filesystems, devices, etc.Experience with a cloud service provider with object storage (eg., AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage)Bonus Qualifications:
Familiarity working hands-on with high performance networking and compute (100G+ Networking, WAN networks, high performance server deployment) Experience dealing with data volumes at a Petabyte+ scale
