Role Summary

In this position you will be responsible for vehicle program range and efficiency forecasting for Rivian’s next generation products.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the full vehicle simulation model for a specific vehicle program, maintain model revision data storage and reporting of the range attribute under current program development assumptions
  • Use the simulation model to predict range and efficiency globally for Rivian products, including 5-cycle simulation
  • Responsible for accuracy in daily tracking of program range forecast to target
  • Competitive analysis including projecting future range and efficiency of competitive products to Rivian’s portfolio
  • Work closely with range and efficiency team to develop simulation and/or vehicle test plans to achieve range target
  • Single point contact for full vehicle attribute tracking to targets from all cross-functional areas affecting range and efficiency of the vehicle
  • Complete Design of Experiment (DoE) studies and create engineering reports with data driven suggestions
  • Communicate simulation results and recommendations to Attribute Owners through templated processes
  • Development of new simulation features and analytical methodologies where needed
  • Use simulation to investigate effects of advanced propulsion technologies on range & efficiency
  • Collaborate with performance, vehicle dynamic and driveability attributes to evaluate effects of recommendations on other attributes
  • Assist in investigation of vehicle simulation to vehicle hardware correlation gaps as required

Qualifications

  • BS + 3 years automotive experience, MS+ 2 years automotive experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in propulsion systems, of which minimum 2 years on Hybrid / BEV energy
  • analysis/modelling/simulation/ testing
  • Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering analysis techniques
  • Experience with industry standard energy & efficiency analysis & simulation tools
  • Deep knowledge of technologies impacting energy consumption, performance and drive quality
  • Engineering development experience with BEVs
  • Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, and fundamental understanding of electric motors, power electronics and advanced battery technology
  • Knowledge of vehicle level testing, development and calibration pertaining to energy & efficiency, including knowledge of global regulatory test procedures for EVs
  • Experience in calculation formulas globally to determine energy label range and efficiency
  • Experience with system analysis and applying systems engineering methods
  • Knowledge of applied optimization and design of experiments
  • Experience of preparing formal reports summarizing analysis results
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team work skill
