We are looking for an outstanding Senior Avionics Systems Engineer with good aerospace experience on development of Avionics systems up to Certification to join our innovative team that will shape the future of urban e-mobility.

This position will report to the Avionics Manager in our Electronic & Electrical Engineering department and will contribute, as part of an integrated cross functional team, to the electric and electronic systems architecture, design, certification, and delivery of the Lilium Jet.

You will have a chance in shaping the future of air mobility by not only defining the Avionics system but also developing components and coordinating with regulatory partners/suppliers.

You will take responsibility for the development of these subsystems and components while ensuring their compliance to relevant safety standards.

Your Day to Day:

  • Take ownership of Avionics development activities for certification and for alignment with CVEs, Airworthiness and Certification Authorities (EASA & FAA).
  • Guide Avionics System Engineers during the development programme on the approach to be adopted for Compliance Verification and support in preparing the certification documents.
  • Appropriate participation in Design Reviews to ensure work continues in line with Compliance verification requirements
  • Apply Certification Basis and the SC-VTOL MoCs applicability for Avionics Systems.
  • Contribute to Identify Lilium MoCs (LMoCs)/CRIs where SC-VTOL MoCs have gaps for Avionics Systems.
  • Contribute to prepare LMoCs with the System Engineers & CVEs and agree with the authorities.
  • Define the applicability of the AMCs/ACs for the Certification Basis and the MoCs identified for Avionics Systems.
  • Work together with other departments and external suppliers for supporting certification.
  • Support certification test and certification inspections for Avionics Systems as necessary.
  • Keep the Airworthiness Office informed and updated about any major verification issues or blocking points.
  • Participate in continued airworthiness activities and reportable occurrence analysis and actions.
  • Work on ad hoc related tasks or projects provided by management

Your Profile:

  • University degree in electrical / electronic or aerospace engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with the aviation industry
  • A knowledge of the management of certification requirements and of material and airworthiness codes relating to civil aircraft.
  • Understands the application of system safety engineering techniques during product development
  • Knowledge with EASA Part –21 would be beneficial
  • Experience with one or more of the following EASA certification basis will be beneficial SC VTOL, CS23, CS25 or CS27.
  • Experience with hardware and software development process according to ARP4754, ARP4761 would be highly appreciated.
  • Awareness of hardware and software development process according to DO 178B/C, DO 254, DO-297, DO-330, DO-331, and CS-ETSO would be beneficial.
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomous
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
