Your role and your team:

You will report directly to the Engineering Lead responsible for the Airframe Stress within the Structures and Interior Design Organization. The Structures and Interior Design organization is the engineering team within the Lilium engineering organization responsible for the development of the Aircraft structure, such as the Fuselage or the Wing system as well as the Interior of the Lilium Jet. The team is supporting the development across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.

As a Senior Stress Engineer, you are responsible of strength justification of various components in airframe, mainly Fuselage.

Your Day to Day:

  • Sizing and stress analysis of the Fuselage by means of hand calculations, numerical simulations (FEM) and optimization techniques.
  • Create, manage, and validate global and detailed FE models.
  • Hold responsibility for numerical modelling, conduction of simulations, post-processing, and reporting of the results.
  • Work closely with Engineers from Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Testing throughout the entire product development process to develop a Fuselage Structure with exceptional performance
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering Suppliers and check their deliveries.

Your Profile:

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural analysis, with application to aircraft structures.
  • Experience as checker or approver of stress work in aerospace design organization.
  • Experience in Fuselage structure is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of stress, damage tolerance and fatigue analysis methods following established standards for metallic and CFRP structures.
  • In-depth understanding of the loading scenarios and mechanical behavior of aircraft structures
  • Extensive working experience with the commercial implicit FE code OptiStruct or Nastran, and corresponding pre- and post-processing tools (HyperMesh and HyperView).
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required.
  • High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
