The Quality Engineer, Fleet Support will report to the Sr. Manager of Vehicle Quality and Corporate Quality and have the final goal to ensure that Zoox’s products and services provide a high level of quality that meets the defined standards and specifications and, in the end, the customer expectations. We are now looking for someone enthusiastic, innovative, quality-driven, a self-starter, and willing to take on the challenges of working with us as an exceptional quality engineer to help us increase the quality of our products.

You will be working with quality, manufacturing, engineering, and fleet operations to ensure the products in service are meeting design specifications, functionality, customer expectations, and required documentation. The successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to work independently.

Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $151,000 to $210,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

In this role, you will:

  • Communicate customer feedback proactively to relevant Zoox functions; Be the main point of contact between Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality to drive containment and corrective action/clean point implementation into production on issues found during Fleet Operations.
  • Develop and maintain Fleet Quality Health metrics and track progress RCA of HW/SW failures, working closely with Field Quality, Reliability, Engineering, and Software function groups. 
  • Support verification of fleet’s HW/SW updates following inspection standards, conducting vehicle static/dynamic testing/audit to ensure compliance.
  • Lead vehicle release process by ensuring required testing, verification, and documentation are meeting product quality and legal requirements.
  • Evaluate and monitor maintenance and repair operations against company-defined quality standards. Collaborate with Engineering and Fleet Operation teams to enhance service protocols, reduce service errors, and minimize downtime
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce repair turnaround time, enhance serviceability, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Qualifications

  • Must be willing and able to travel 40%-50% between Zoox service locations.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field, seven (7) plus experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry background and/or experience in; automotive, aviation, contract manufacturing, customer management
  • Thorough knowledge of QMS, quality control fundamentals, in-depth understanding of 8D and problem-solving techniques
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, decision-making, oral and written communication skills
  • Bonus Qualifications

  • Previous experience in SAP and/or JIRA system
  • Comfortable dealing with customer quality issues that require structured problem-solving and effective communication skills.
