About the company:

Revolutionising urban air mobility and electrifying air travel

Our mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.

We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices.

We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030.

What to expect

As a Senior PCB Engineer (BMS), you will join a growing team of passionate individuals whose primary focus is to design and develop PCB layouts for our in-house Battery Management System. You will work with a world class team comprised of leading aerospace and technology thinkers as well as some of the finest engineering talent.

A typical day could range from collaborating with hardware and design engineers to integrate PCBs into our in-house batteries, performing DFM checks, and coordinating with PCB suppliers to ensure timely production.

The ability to quickly figure things out and make decisions at pace will factor into this role's impact and your success.

What you'll do

  • You will design and develop PCB layouts for in-house Battery Management System PCBs.

  • You will collaborate with hardware and design engineers to integrate PCBs into Vertical's in-house batteries.

  • You will perform DFM checks and generate BOMs.

  • You will coordinate with PCB suppliers to ensure a timely production of PCBs.

  • You will document PCB design processes.

  • You will identify and track specific assignments, deliverables, and provide assessments on the progress and outcome of work on a day-to-day basis.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering or related engineering field is preferable.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Schematic and PCB design.

  • Proficiency with Altium 365 is desirable.

  • Experience in digital, analogue, high voltage and high current PCB layout.

  • Experience of DFM and DFT.

  • Good understanding of EMC and PCB design rules to meet standards.

  • Experience with IPC standards.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Fluent English language skills are essential.

What can you expect from us?

We're on a mission. Where others see limits, we see opportunity, and we work at pace. Working at Vertical isn't your average role but for those seeking a challenge, a flexible, supportive organisation and an incredible team; working here is an opportunity to do the best work of your career.

Our approach promotes ingenuity and courage, while our environment builds success through diligence in safety and being open in the way we work. The only way we're going to assure the next chapter of aviation history is by working as a team, relentlessly, towards our goal.

Our benefits

Our people matter - we're not going anywhere without them. Which is why our company benefits go beyond the essentials.

  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holiday

  • 5 extra days per year to buy (or sell)

  • 5 extra days holiday when you get married or enter a civil partnership
