Senior OT / Edge DevOps Engineer (m/f/x)

Reverion is a German deep-tech energy company that develops reversible fuel cell systems for highly efficient power generation, electrolysis, energy storage, and carbon capture. Spun out of the Technical University of Munich (TU München), the company produces modular power plant systems capable of converting biogas or hydrogen into electricity at efficiencies of up to 80 percent — roughly double the efficiency of conventional combined heat and power (CHP) systems. Reverion's technology is centered on solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) that can operate reversibly, switching between power generation and electrolysis modes with short transition times. This enables the systems to function as both a power plant and an electrolyzer, converting surplus renewable electricity into methane or hydrogen for storage and later use. The hydrogen systems achieve a round-trip efficiency of up to 75 percent, supporting sector coupling and grid stabilization. Unlike conventional combustion-based power plants, Reverion's systems operate emission-free, and the CO2 separated during the process can be utilized industrially or stored permanently, enabling climate-positive energy production. Reverion's mission is to advance the energy transition by replacing fossil-fuel-based power generation with clean, highly efficient alternatives that are both ecologically and economically viable. Your mission

• You ensure that the systems are monitored and controllable at all times (monitoring, secure remote access) and take part in an on-call rotation with the team to support this.
• You implement and maintain secure connectivity and remote-access solutions (VPN/ZTNA, multi-WAN failover).
• You set up, configure and regularly update critical services on Linux and Windows.
• You optimize and maintain the deployment processes (CI/CD) for over-the-air updates in the field.
• You diagnose and resolve connectivity and connection issues of the plants and proactively improve the diagnostic and monitoring tools.
• You monitor and safeguard the data pipelines to ensure an uninterrupted flow of data from the field.

Your profile

• You have completed vocational training or hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• You have several years of professional experience operating Edge, Embedded, or OT systems, ideally in the energy, automation, or industrial sector.
• You have experience with Linux or Windows as well as scripting in both environments (Bash and PowerShell).
• You have experience with Edge deployments, including the setup, configuration, and regular automated remote updates of critical services on industrial hardware (e.g., using Ansible).
• Experience with remote rollouts of TwinCAT software updates in the field is a plus.
• You have hands-on experience with remote access concepts (VPN, ZTNA), mobile connectivity (LTE/5G routers, APN configuration), and working with unstable or bandwidth-constrained connections.
• Ideally, you have solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, NAT, firewalls, DNS) and are able to independently diagnose typical connectivity and communication issues (e.g., using tcpdump, ip, ss).
• Experience with containerization, especially Docker and Docker Compose, as well as operating containerized services on Edge devices, is a plus.
• You are familiar with CI/CD processes and version control systems (e.g., Git and GitLab CI).
• You have a strong security mindset and awareness.
• You take strong ownership of your area of responsibility and work independently.
• You have excellent English skills (at least C1 level).
