Position: Senior Operations and Maintenance Technician

 Location:  Chicago, IL Warehouse

Pivot Bio is looking for an experienced Operations and Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for set up, operations, maintenance, and improvement of various machines to ensure continuous and efficient production. The Operations and Maintenance Technician will operate and maintain packaging, palletizing, and conveyor equipment. The technician will work in conjunction with our manufacturing, supply chain, warehouse operations, and safety teams. This role will strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, contractors, and public safety.

 Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
  • Identify and communicate workplace safety hazards
  • Adhere to safety management standards and OSHA/ANSI compliant policies
  • Inspection, start-up, change over, troubleshooting, and maintenance of packaging line equipment
  • Support operations in the daily start-up and change over protocols of equipment
  • Implement equipment visual inspection protocols for Line Supervisor and General Labor
  • Work with operations and warehouse management to troubleshoot and fix equipment issues
  • Write preventative maintenance and operating SOPs in coordination with the equipment manufacturer
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance and keep maintenance records
  • Perform line down maintenance and interface with 3rd party maintenance contractors when required; Assist with line down root cause analysis
  • Create spare parts lists, maintain spare parts room, and communicate purchasing requirements to the procurement team
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, facilities, and supply chain team to identify preferred maintenance contractors
  • Identify operations, equipment, and automation cost savings and improvement opportunities; Contribute to project teams to support future automation initiatives
  • Write SOPs to support all facets of equipment operations and work with Warehouse Manager to train employees on SOPs

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associate or Trade School degree in electrical, mechanical maintenance or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience with automated packaging and process systems and components, including PLC programming (Required)
  • Safety, electrical, mechanical, and equipment professional certifications preferred (OHSA, CPE, ASME, CAP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state requirements, codes, ordinances, and standards
  • Reads and interprets mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, technical manuals, and P&ID's
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations
  • Promotes teamwork, possess a good attitude, exhibits flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed
  • Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, and keeping written records
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Effectively communicates to both a manufacturing and office workforce
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • This job is in a manufacturing environment and requires the ability to lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights up to 50 pounds. The ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts may be required; training and certification will be provided if the candidate has no prior experience.
