Role Summary:

The Senior Manager is responsible for partnering with shop production team and process engineering team for smooth running of operations and maintaining superior product quality in Rivian Automotive Assembly Plant. The Sr. Manager of manufacturing quality will oversee and manage resolution of all internal assembly quality issues, internal and external customer issues, ensure supplier quality issues are appropriately elevated and addressed by supplier quality centered around Drive Unit. The Sr. Manager will be responsible to develop a strategic plan to continuously improve product quality and reduce waste in the form of product scrap. The Sr. Manager will be accountable for a team of Quality Managers, Quality Engineers and Group Leaders to improve overall quality performance of the respective shop. This position requires the ability to work with cross-functional teams to develop procedures, and standards. In addition, to be a key influencer for the creation of a positive quality culture, sustain and promote Rivian compass values. This position requires deep understanding of the automotive quality and problem-solving tools in order to build and develop a highly effective team.

 

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Development 
•    Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice processes. Vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
•    Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on operational activities. Proactive thinking and ability to clearly request the need (resource, equipment, tools etc.,)

 General and Task Management
•    Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance
•    Develop systems and procedures to meet the needs of Production delivery targets.
•    Issue Management: Manage corrective action program (RC) for ESS shop in the capacity of Integration Manager - Respond to quality issues by putting in containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures
•    Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns
•    Ensure that plant schedule for vehicle builds is fulfilled by operation deliverables

People Management 
•    Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability
•    Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements

Financial and Budget Control 
•    Input and hold responsibility for team budgets
•    Responsible for achieving budget and forecast

 

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or other related field
  • 10+ years in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • 8+ years Manufacturing leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing operation, preferably automotive
  • 3+ years in a cross-functional operations in a manufacturing setting 
  • 5+ years leading teams in a high-volume, Manufacturing environment
  • 5+ MS Office
  • Must have experience in drive unit or related
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Masters Degree
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment
