Who You Are

The Senior Manager, People Operations & Total Rewards will run the daily functions of the People Operations Team including compliance management, immigration, total rewards, and employee inquiries.

Responsibilities and Duties  

  • Creates, plans, and implements a People Operations strategy to support business needs.
  • Manages Total Rewards including creating, modifying, and updating compensation bands; managing employee benefits programs; and assisting with the administration of the company’s 401(k) program.
  • Manages all initial People team inquiries, directing to appropriate people and departments when appropriate.
  • Manages and performs routine tasks required to administer and execute people programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Manages immigration program.
  • Manages employee leaves programs.
  • Manages workers compensation programs in coordination with EHS.
  • Ensures proper documentation of mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Manages background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

  • Experience with and knowledge of People Operations best practices at a growing company.  Experience writing clear, effective People policies.
  • Strong knowledge of Immigration law.
  • Experience creating, managing, and modifying compensation programs including equity grants.
  • Experience managing employee benefits programs including negotiating with benefits vendors.  Knowledge of the ACA.  Experience creating self-funded benefits programs a plus.
  • Experience creating employee handbooks. 
  • Experience administering workers compensation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations including Federal, California, and Washington labor laws.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn ADP WorkforceNow and Greenhouse.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.  Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of people operations or generalist experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Total Rewards.
  • 2-4 years of people supervisory or management experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Move items up to 15 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
  • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location

 

The starting base pay for this role is between $161,000 and $204,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. #LI-PL1 #LI-Hybrid
