What you will do: 

As the Senior Manager of Systems Engineering, you will oversee the design, development, and optimization of complex hardware engineering systems crucial to our green iron production technology. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage system-level architecture, and ensure our systems meet the scalability, sustainability, and reliability standards necessary for commercialization. This is a key leadership role that requires both deep technical expertise and strong management skills.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems engineers, mechanical engineers, and data engineers, ensuring high performance and professional growth 
  • Collaborate with cross-function teams to deliver integrated solutions  
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team 
  • Oversee the design, development, and validation of system architectures for green iron production, ensuring they meet technical, cost, and sustainability goals 
  • Ensure that all system components work together seamlessly 
  • Optimize system performance through continuous monitoring and iterative design improvements 
  • Manage large-scale, complex engineering projects from concept to deployment, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget 
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across the company to align engineering efforts with business objectives 
  • Implement systems engineering best practices, including documentation, requirements tracking, and system validation processes 
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks during development and deployment 
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for system failures or underperformance 
  • Oversee implementation of control algorithms, including PID, ladder logic, and other process control strategies 
  • Implement solutions to ensure system resilience and reliability as we scale production 
  • Manage the timeline, resources, and budget for systems engineering projects 
  • Promote a culture of safety within the teams 
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor 

 

What we need you to bring to the team (Requirements):  

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or related 
  • 12+ years of industry experience working within process engineering or manufacturing environments (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects), or 8+ years of industry experience working within process engineering and manufacturing environments with a master’s degree, or 5+ years of industry experience working within process engineering or manufacturing environments with a PhD. 
  • 5+ years of leadership experience leading engineering teams to manage complex system level projects 
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams to manage complex system-level projects 
  • Strong understanding of system engineering principles, including systems integration, testing, and validation 
  • Experience with process control systems and large-scale production systems 
  • Experience with automation and control systems in industrial applications 
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools such as CAD, FEA, MATLAB, etc. 
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, HMI design, and other control system technologies 
  • Experience driving the strategy and success of larger projects which contribute to multiple areas of the organization 
  • Experience making decisions where impact of the decision could result in critical delays in schedules or operations  
  • Experience in leading and mentoring individuals in sensitive complex situations  
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities with experience driving technical teams to success 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint      

 

What we want you to bring to the team (Preferred) :  

  • 13+ years of industry experience in systems engineering within process engineering or manufacturing environments (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)   
  • Experience designing and building data acquisition and process control systems for chemical processing   
  • Experience working in start-ups or fast-paced scaling environments 

 

Compensation:  

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $135,000-$175,00 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
