About the company:

Doing something different is never easy. It requires courage, optimism and grit. Core to our mission is building a team of adventurous individuals determined to make a positive impact on the world. This means challenging ourselves constantly. Stretching beyond the bounds of conventional thinking. Reframing old problems. Seeking new solutions. And operating comfortably in a space of uncertainty. While our backgrounds are diverse, our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Do you like doing the impossible? We’d love to hear from you.

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

This is what you will do:

  • Oversee all accounting activities for the Company’s Charging line of business

  • Maintain revenue systems and ensure accuracy and completeness of all accounts receivable transactions and compliance with company policies
  • Oversee procedures for tracking and reconciling consumer vehicle sales, non-manufacturing cost of sales, inventory, and vehicle preorders for monthly financial and operational reporting
  • Act as a strategic partner, collaborating cross-functionally with:
    • The Corporate Accounting team on journal entries and reconciliations, accruals, and income statement classification
    • The SEC Reporting team on quarterly and annual disclosures
    • The Finance team on monthly forecasts, monthly fluctuation analysis, and executive reporting
    • The Internal Audit team on developing, improving, and owning internal controls processes
    • The Tax team on quarterly/annual provision
    • The Legal team on accounting impacts of new or changed contracts
    • The Technical Accounting team on researching and drafting support for accounting under US GAAP and IFRS
  • Ensure timely delivery of supporting documentation for external auditors
  • Conduct ad hoc projects, as appropriate

This is what you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in accounting with experience in revenue recognition accounting.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, and knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP applicable to revenue recognition
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including when involving cross-functional teams
  • Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively; goal-oriented
  • Constant desire to learn and challenge others to find the best solution; not afraid of failure
  • Adaptable to change, both big and small
  • Desire to develop, implement and maintain process improvements
  • CPA or CMA preferred but not required
