What to expect

As a Senior HSE Advisor, you will play a key role in creating and maintaining a safe workplace environment, supporting managers and employees to embed a culture of safety ownership, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will provide expert advice, guidance, and support in developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies and procedures in line with statutory obligations, industry standards, and organisational objectives. This is a hands-on role that involves influencing teams, conducting audits and investigations, and driving the continual improvement of HSE systems.

What you’ll do

· Support managers in ensuring a safe workplace environment without risk to health for employees, contractors, and visitors.

· Ensure Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to, regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.

· Advise on meeting statutory obligations, including training, inspections, and reporting requirements.

· Lead the completion and review of risk assessments for work equipment, processes, and operations.

· Lead and support accident and incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and countermeasures implemented.

· Develop engaging and informative lessons learned reports for managers and teams.

· Liaise with responsible persons to ensure inspections, fire drills, alarm testing, and lone working arrangements are carried out, recorded, and acted upon.

· Coordinate the roll-out and communication of HSE policies, safe systems of work, and procedures.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date health, safety, and training records.

· Liaise with external consultants and regulators to ensure compliance and adoption of best practice.

· Work alongside the HSE Advisor to ensure resilience and consistency in delivery.

· Act as a trusted advisor to managers, providing pragmatic guidance on safe working practices.

· Coach and influence managers and employees to take ownership of safety responsibilities, promoting a Zero Harm culture.

What you’ll bring

· 5 -8 years’ HSE experience, ideally in aerospace, aviation, automotive, or other highly regulated environments.

· NVQ Level 5 Diploma / NEBOSH General Diploma (or equivalent).

· Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, compliance, and best practice.

· Experience advising managers, embedding HSE systems, leading audits, inspections, and investigations.

· Competent in HSE management systems and Microsoft Office; adaptable to new platforms.

· Formal training in COSHH, Work at Height, or advanced risk assessment techniques desirable. ISO 45001 Lead Auditor experience advantageous.

· Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.

· Resilient, organised, proactive, and able to work in a rapidly changing environment.

· Passionate about HSE, with the ability to coach, mentor, and foster a Zero Harm culture.
