The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian’ s engineered products to life. In this role, the Senior Group Manager of Purchasing will be responsible for sourcing and managing parts that make up the building blocks of the R1T, R1S, and Electric Delivery Vehicles. As a Director, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements. You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between. This role reports to the Senior Group Manager of the Purchasing team within the Vehicle Team of Supply Chain Organization
This is what you’ll do:
- Development of procurement strategy, policies, procedures, and systems in support of all Structural commodities, including Raw Materials, Body Structures, Closures, and Battery Enclosure.
- Oversee RFI/RFQ/RFP and strategic sourcing process for all Structural direct material requirements across Rivian, including all Vehicles
- Lead all aspects of supplier negotiation, including part price, tooling expenditure, engineering & development expenses, and creation of Long-Term Agreements
- Engage and support other functional groups on scope development, product cost, manufacturing technology, delivery, and quality
- Provide in-depth analysis of total direct material spend data to identify opportunities for short-term improvements and strategic initiatives
- Recommend solutions to business problems and present ideas to senior leadership
- Recruit, build and develop a strategic, high-performing Purchasing team in support of Rivian’s portfolio of products
- Drive success through empowering your team, leading by example and removing roadblocks
- Communicate clearly to internal and external stakeholders, remaining composed under pressure while adapting to a dynamic work environment
- Support business planning initiatives and milestone attainment
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, acting as the lead for all commercial issues
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant Structures-related work experience
- 7+ years of Purchasing/Supply Chain management, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier management experience
- 5+ years of leading purchasing, strategic sourcing, procurement teams in a fast paced, global environment.
- 5+ years’ experience in leading and managing sourcing projects that support cross-functional internal organizations
- 3+ years performing spend analysis while managing the entire RFI/RFQ/RFP process
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree/MBA with 10+ years of relevant Structures-related work experience
- 10+ years experience in building high performing strategic purchasing organizations and developing talent into leadership positions
- Demonstrated ability to identify process issues and drive improvements that improve operational efficiency
- Knowledge and experience with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of integrity
