About the company:

Revolutionising urban air mobility and electrifying air travel

Join the Fight Control Laws Team based in Bristol as an Advanced Electrical Systems Engineer and help us to achieve our mission of pioneering electric aviation.

What success will look like for you, as a Senior Flight Control Laws Engineer?

As a Senior Flight Control Laws Engineer, you will be responsible for the support of both our development aircraft programme and our Certification aircraft programme, deploying your experience to solve many of the unique challenges we face developing Control Laws for a vectored-thrust eVTOL aircraft. You will have a genuine passion for fostering the growth of junior team members within the FCL team; you will have strong communication skills backed-up by a real belief in the importance of mentorship and knowledge exchange.

You will be working in a close-knit and agile team, working within the Digital & Flight Systems squad at Vertical.

As the Flight Control Laws are the brains of the aircraft, you will interface with almost every other team at Vertical; deeply understanding and managing (often competing) stakeholder requirements is crucial. You will work closely with our partner, Honeywell, to ensure the aircraft flies safely, has optimum performance and is robust to the environment within which it operates.

You will report directly into the Flight Control Laws IPT Lead and be a key member of the Digital and Flight team, supporting the continued development of our in-house expertise, specialist knowledge and capabilities.

What would we like you to bring.

We want you to be successful in your role, in order to achieve this, you will need to have a BS/MS/PHD in Aerospace Engineering/Computer Engineering and at least 10 years proven experience working within the Aerospace domain. Additionally, you will need excellent knowledge of control theory, flight control laws design, variation and verification along with good skills / knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and fixed-wing or rotorcraft flight dynamics. Ideally you will have gained this experience from either Aerospace or Automotive sectors.

What can you expect from us?

We're on a mission. Where others see limits, we see opportunity, and we work at pace. Working at Vertical isn't your average role but for those seeking a challenge, a flexible, supportive organisation and an incredible team; working here is an opportunity to do the best work of your career.

Our approach promotes ingenuity and courage, while our environment builds success through diligence in safety and being open in the way we work. The only way we're going to assure the next chapter of aviation history is by working as a team, relentlessly, towards our goal.
