Senior Engineer, Sourcing

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

Lead the commercial relationship with the capital equipment supply base including price, delivery and terms negotiations supporting the Battery Engineering & Research groups. Work with various engineering teams and scientists to develop sourcing requirements for new products. Find and develop new suppliers to Sila’s supply base as needed to support the new product development.   Own supplier relationship management efforts including supplier business reviews, managing supplier performance, and assessing the competitive landscape. Create RFQ packages, execute purchase orders, and ensure on-time supplier delivery.  Support the creation of new supply chain operating procedures and implement across the organization. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, materials science engineering, mechanical engineering or supply chain management and Experience must include four (4) years of post-bachelor’s progressive experience in all of the following: Sourcing new product introduction for technical projects such as metallic components or equipment. Reading blueprints for capital equipment, mechanical systems, and individual parts. Understanding of GD&T. Negotiating commercial objectives and Terms & Conditions. Examples of success negotiating improved outcomes on warranty clauses, damages, force majeure, liability, price, lead time, and payment terms on technical sourcing projects. Developing supply chain outsource control policies for ISO 9001.  Writing internal supply chain process documents and creating new supplier onboarding documentation including supplier profile questionnaire, supplier audit template, supplier code of conduct, capital equipment approval documentation, and supplier commodity code classifications for the categorization of suppliers. Utilizing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle and Sage to create new suppliers, write purchase orders, categorize supplier details, and execute on sourcing objectives. Creating pivot tables and analyzing data using VLOOKUP’s for data extracted from the ERP system to assess supplier spend metrics, and adherence to commodity strategies.
