The Role
As our founding Senior EHS Manager, Environmental Affairs, you will manage environmental due diligence activities across various development projects throughout North America, encompassing assessments like Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, noise studies, and permitting evaluations. You’ll utilize risk assessments to lead continuous improvement initiatives, promote environmental compliance during construction and operations, and evaluate new factory designs for environmental impacts.

Maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements. We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience. Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area. If you live outside that region, the range is subject to change.
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.

What you'll do:
Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organizationManage environmental due diligence activities across multiple concurrent development efforts throughout North America, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, noise studies, air permitting, wetlands/water permitting, and biological and cultural resource evaluationsUtilize risk assessments and compliance evaluations, to lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts and communicate and implement best practicesPromote environmental compliance through construction and facility operations, including support for training, auditing, and maintaining permit complianceEvaluate new factory designs for environmental impacts (e.g., noise impacts, air permitting implications, and fuel management)Scope, review findings, and provide guidance to consultants and internal teams on environmental conditions and permittingLead environmental permitting and regulatory compliance efforts for site selection, including Section 404, Section 106 consultation, Title V air permits, and environmental impact studies. Understand, communicate, and align these approvals with Infrastructure and Facilities timeframesDevelop, summarize, and communicate environmental obligations across multiple diverse internal and external teams, including design, construction, and operations teamsProvide environmental expertise to diverse internal teams and coordinate with other internal stakeholders about relevant issues and requirements, including Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams, where neededDevelop training and educational tools regarding environmental goals, compliance, and awareness.Stay current on changes in environmental policy and regulations to assess and mitigate risks Assist in facilitating the growth of the environmental program within Moxion as the company continues to grow and build environmental excellenceAssist in managing and maintaining existing environmental compliance programs (e.g., PSM, SWPPP, Air, Water, Waste)Partner with business operations, new product introduction and prototype teams in supporting the change management processFacilitate root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementationLead sustainability and resource efficiency efforts for the plantSkills to be successful:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or other related field.7+ years of experience in environmental due diligence and permitting effortsExperience with air permitting, hazardous materials business plans, hazmat shipping, DOT complianceExperience managing projects and coordinating with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholdersExperience working in teams and establishing and maintaining cross-functional and positive working relationshipsExperience working with confidential informationNice to haves:
Master’s degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or other related fieldExperience working in fast-paced environmentsExperience with ISO14001Strong scientific and mathematical knowledgeExperience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer toolsCertifications (ASP, CSP, CHMM, REM)
