Senior Battery Engineer

We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.</span></p></div><p><span style="font-weight: 300;"><strong>What you’ll do</strong>:</span></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Lead the technical cell development for both prototype and certified aircraft</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Develop international cell and battery vendor supply chains</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Lead cell performance tests, develop aging models and operational limits and lifetime optimizations</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Set up testing facility with cyclers, glove boxes, and fume hoods for cell development</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Support cell and battery manufacturing with cell teardowns and root cause analysis</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Develop cell requirements coordinate collaborate with our multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop world class battery systems</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>What you need:</strong></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">5+ years of experience in battery industry / cell development field</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">M.S. or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Deep understanding of lithium-ion battery electrochemistry and materials</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Knowledge or experience with novel battery technologies</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Experience working closely with suppliers</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Knowledge of battery cell manufacturing and quality control</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Experience setting up and running cell cyclers like Maccor, Arbin, Neware, etc.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Battery/cell teardown and failure analysis experience</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>Bonus Qualifications:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-weight: 300;">Experience with MATLAB and Python</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 300;">Experience managing hundreds of cell test channels</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 300;">Direct experience working internationally</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 300;">Experience working with technicians</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 300;">Passion for aviation and eVTOLs</span></li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><h5><span style="font-weight: 400;">Archer is proud to be an Equal Opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
